Thank you for your service Jas6415, and all those that have served and are presently serving. My Dad was in the Navy, Uncle was in the Army in WWII and served again in Koren with the Air Force. Both are gone now, but not forgotten for their service and bravery. GOD BLESS AMERICA

Memorial Day in the United States was created to remember the fallen soldiers from our Civil War, where more Americans were killed in battle than, I think, all of the other wars combined.
When I was really young, I remember my dad driving members of our extended family (maternal grandmother, aunts, cousins - one of the benefits or problems, depending on how you feel about the extended members of your family when you have a station wagon or minivan) to a few cemeteries to put flowers on the graves of family members. One year, we had stopped at a roadside park and I found a half dollar. The roadside park, no longer on the main highway, was on a hill that overlooking train tracks where Jesse James jumped off of the cliff of this roadside park onto a moving train in order to rob it.

I had to do this in the 48 USA cut. I hope everyone who lives in the United States had a great 3-day weekend. For those who live elsewhere, I hope you are having a great day!
