For me, HOT Apple Pie needs Hot Custard - cold Apple Pie needs whipped cream or ice cream ;-).

Wow, I could go for a nice, warm slice of that apple pie with lots of whip topping on top. Nothing like having that for breakfast, after waiting up to nothing but snow covering everything! Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your day.

I did too until I started (about 3 decades ago) cooking and pureeing my own pumpkin for pies.

My mother made pumpkin chiffon pies, which were enhanced with whipped cream and had a thin layer of whipped cream on top. They were the best pies in the world as far as I knew. I made them once. It took a couple of DAYS of work. If you're doing it for a crowd, it's worth it, but just for me too much work. But I still remember how they tasted and how much I loved it. I don't know anyone else who made pies like that for Thanksgiving.
