I occasionally like it steamed lightly with olive oil, a drizzle of fresh lemon juice, and either dill or a little salt. Cream of asparagus soup is good, too, either warm or cold.
I love asparagus but never had the soup. I'd like to try it in a good restaurant before I make it myself in case I don't like it. I'd hate to go through all that work and then not care for it.

If you like asparagus and creamed soups, you will like it. My favorite seasonings are basil and a little sea salt. Since, I strive toward GF vegan, I use soy milk and one of the gluten-free flours, like millet, sorghum, or rice. I've been using stevia for sweetener. A little olive, corn or safflower oil can replace the butter or margarine. I'm sure allrecipes.com has a traditional recipe. Creamed soups can be made with almost any vegetable. If you're into diary, you can add a little Parmesan or cheddar cheese to suit your taste. Cheese, though, can't be eaten cold like vichyssoise.

Thank you vmarie. I think I will look up a traditional recipe and give it a try next time asparagus is on sale. Sounds yummy.
Asparagus is really good for lowering blood glucose levels and nice to eat :)

He goes to the doctor and asks him what's wrong.
The doctor tells him, "Well, for one thing, you're not eating right."
Sorry folks, just couldn't resist that one hahahaha. God bless you all especially for putting up with me. Take care. Hugs.
Friday Funnies, nothing wrong with that. Blessings to you as well.

You take care, too Aussie. Remember the song I'm a lonely little petunia in an onion patch? The Will Rogers quote made me think of that. You keep us going, Aussie. Hope you have someone who does the same for you.

Aussie there never has been a vegetable that can make people laugh but have you ever laughed at some of your vegetables that you pulled out of your garden with the most hilarious distorted shape? I have even saved some at times when that happened to show my kids and we are all laughing like a bunch of nuts! Loved your veggie jokes, made me laugh and I needed that. Thanks Aussie!

Well we are all "of an age" then aren't we, ichiban?
Love the old songs b4 r&r took over. I no longer listen to pop music. Remember when show music was heading the top 20?

Hi Aussie
Sth Aus is very lovely and also diverse, Adelaide is a quiet but trendy city and very different from where you live.
I loved a trip we did from Cairns to Adelaide a few years back at this time of year, the weather was great and I was particularly fond of Coulandra..
The weather is so hot and so cold here, just heard on the radio its 11degrees and its 11am Sunday.
I should be used to it I was born here and except for 16years in Tweed/Coolangatta (which I loved) the rest of my life has been here.:)

Hi ichi, Got married again after 31 years, almost two years ago and we had our second honeymoon in Caloundra, also stayed at Mooloolabah, but prefer Caloundra and will be heading there again to celebrate two years of wonderful married life :) Hugs.
Wow! I did the same this afternoon! Also had watermelon the same day as the puzzle. Maybe Kevin and staff will have peach pie puzzle tomorrow. For some reason I crave it. LOL. Have a great weekend.

That makes my mouth water for a piece of sour cream peach pie! Yum!!
Made this in a smaller cut...can't spend all day on it (like I do sometimes)...love Asparagus..but lately the only thing we can buy is the real skinny stalks...some people love those...but I like the fat ones....when I was a kid we had a big asparagus patch..my mom would give us asparagus on toast...put butter, salt and pepper on it..to this day that is my fav way to eat it
My favorite way to eat asparagus is with a sauce of mayonnaise and vinegar. Have to get just the right mix of the two (to your taste) then pour it over the asparagus.

The sauce is cold. If you try it, I hope you like it as much as I do. I put the same sauce on my Brussels sprouts.
