Macoun apples are my favorites here. Sweet and crunchy but they are late in the season and not around long. Last year was a bad apple year here with small apples and sometimes none at all.
Why was that ctjan? Too much rain, too little, too much cold?

Had to look up "Macoun apples." Hadn't heard of them before.
'Macoun' apples are a cross between the 'McIntosh' and 'Jersey Black' cultivars. The Macoun was developed at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, by Richard Wellington. It was first introduced in 1923, and is an eating apple. Macouns are also very popular at roadside stands and pick-your-own farms. Availability is generally October through November.

I think the reason for the bad apple season is due to the low bee population. The pollen was not being spread around by the bees. It happened all over the place too.

The bees could have had something to do with it but I think it was mainly the Fall weather, too little rain.

Remembered why the apple and peach crop were so bad last year. We had a warm spell in the winter and the fruit trees budded early. Then back to freezing weather and the buds died. We are having a warm spell now. I hope we don't have the same result.
I can't eat most apples. My husband eats three or more daily. He loves Pink Lady's also called Cripp's Pink which I have sometimes gotten confused with the Honeycrisp.

My husband also favors the Pink Lady apples. I really like the Honeycrisp.
Lovely! I eat an apple every night to prevent acid reflux. All I can say is My daughter heard it, and I tried it and it works for me. I expect there are other causes that it wouldn't help. So these apples look tasty and healthy to me. I'm thankful we have good local orchards around me.
Apples for acid reflux? Interesting. If it turns out that I do have acid reflux (hope to find out on Friday), then I'll try to remember that.

I don't know if it works in every case, but I know it does in mine. The instructions said a red apple, but not Red delicious. Eat it skin and all just before bed. It even helps me during the rare time I eat something terrible and have the reflux. I can eat an apple and it cleanses my mouth better than water. It isn't easy for me to get out of bed, so especially like the quick action of an apple at that time. I even keep my apples in the bedroom and eat it just before sleep. If the apple is huge, I only eat 1/2. I also found I didn't have to take fiber caps any more. The apples were definitely cheaper and a lot more enjoyable than the meds. Let me know how you do on apples.

Praise God, we are only getting an occasional sprinkle today. None of my family had to evacuate because of flooding. I am so very thankful!
