Yummy, I love fresh cherries. There is a variety we can get here for a very limited amount of time in early summer, they are called Rainier cherries and they are yellow and red. The taste is not quite the same, but they are so sweet and very, very good....my favorites. Everyone be safe.

Someone brought a bowl of those to a covered dish gathering where I got a chance to taste them...They are wonderful. I love cherries.

We buy those every time they hit the markets! Such a nice texture and sweetness - they're very good preserved in liqueur and layered with icing between layer of cake, too.

We have gotten them here a couple of times, in my memory, and they were really good!

Akan never thought of preserving them in liqueur, the idea with the cake sounds heavenly, will have to try it. WOW it just dawned on me we will have water today. Can't wait, sponge baths are getting old. Our well went dry and the pump burned up about 2 weeks ago, so we have been getting about 15 gallons of water from some friends everyday, plus they let us shower, don't know what we would do without them.Got the new well drilled...cost a small fortune and bought a new pump, now my hubby and son have to finish hooking up the pump to the water tank......then WATER...I hope. Stay safe

Good luck with your new well, darambo. We are on well water also. Developments have sprung up in the hills that sucked up a lot of the water table and many neighbors had to drill new wells. We have been lucky so far.

Good luck with your new well! I learned about doing without water when I lived in Honduras. During the dry season, if we were lucky, we had running water in the morning for 30 minutes and the same in the evening. You quickly learn gratitude for water when you have to do without.

Hope all goes well with the well...oops, really wasn't trying to spoof that! When we lived in Oklahoma, our well went dry because of all the irrigation around us. It was only 80 feet deep. The new one went down to 250 feet, into the aquifer, but we had water again! Missed the windmill - it couldn't lift water that far. Was always good cold water right from the tap.

Akan, nborchardt and pixi OH!!!! I am so fed up!! The guys got everything put together and the pipe down the well, The water table is very shallow here, old well was only 20 feet deep, the new one is 45 feet. We turned it on and it worked for 20 minutes before it went off!! So have to pull the pump up out of the well to check the wiring. My poor guys have been working so hard, my son has been going to work also, so he is extra tired. It's a submersible pump. Wow 250 feet, you must have had to take a second out on your mortgage ;-D lol!!! We have ice water out of the tap, when we have water. The population here has doubled in the 20 years we have been here and I'm sure that has something to do with the water around here. Nborchardt what were you doing in Honduras, how long were you there? Sorry for all the questions but anyone who has lived in another country is very interesting, love to find out about new places. Sounds dumb but I watch travel programs, so much fun to learn about new places. Guess I should close and get to work since the guys are up and getting ready to start work. It's 6:30am!! You all be safe and will keep you informed about the water.

Darambo, our new well was paid for by the irrigators who caused the problem - large farm owners, basically. Wish we could get together - I'd tell you all about living in Europe for 4 years - in a tent!

You're fortunate those farmers were honest. The poor folks in our neighborhood (and they were quite poor then)had to shoulder the cost themselves because the politicians wanted to force our area onto city water so theyclaimed ther was no proof the development's well had caused everyone well below to go dry. They had drilled down 250 feet so of course they got all the water they needed and filled their own water tower for the devlopment. The town never forced them to go on city water.

IN A TENT!!!!!!! That's wild Akan, would like to hear about your experiences in Europe. I lived in Offenbach, Germany...right outside of Frankfurt for a year when I was 19. Didn't get to see anywhere else except the area around us. The guys figured out what was wrong with the well, the brand new pump is bad, so we had to go buy another one ( different type ) Now we are flat broke, guess we will cancel the holidays this year and just be happy we'll have water. Keeping my windmill even if we don't need it just because I like them. Will let you all know the next exciting chapter of The Well That Wouldn't Pump tomorrow. Take care and be safe.

Pixi, they bordered on being agri-businesses, but there are also laws in place in that area of the country to protect domestic water. Shame no one's protecting the aquifers!

Darambo, you celebrate having water for the holidays - no bigger gift can be given.

Darambo, I lived in Honduras for 17 years. My ex-husband is from there and still lives there with his wife he married 6 wks. after our divorce was supposedly final..another story! I went there in 1974 and returned in 1991. I loved the country and the people and had many good friends, but other things were making it hard to live there. I wouldn't go back for a visit for all the money in the world. It now has the most murders than anywhere else in the world and its northern port city, San Pedro Sula, has been named the "murder capital of the world". All these changes are due to the drug gangs. I can't believe that poor country has gone through and I feel so bad for the people who are trying to live their lives there.

Thanks, nlbuchanan! My problem now is to keep doing the exercises that were assigned to me when I can think of 1, 000 reasons why I can't do them. But I have been good and doing them 3 times a day! Have a great day!

Yes, the home excercises are always the hard part. Even without reasons why you can't do them the biggest thing to hold you (me! ) back is the "I don't want to! " LOL!

Ahhh, reminds me of spring when we in the Northeast can buy dark red cherries for a reasonable time. I like to just rinse and eat them, but bakers enjoy making cherry pies during the month long window when they are affordable and of good quality.
