When I was very young, my mother sent me around to the local bakery (a very big building) for half a loaf of bread, which in those days was not sliced. By the time I got home, a few blocks from the bakery, there was a big hole in the middle of the freshly baked bread lol. I don't think Mum was too impressed.

Aussie, I probably would have made a good sized hole in the fresh bread, too! I love bread--it is my major diet downfall. Sigh.

Oh, aussie - there was a grocery store in Little Rock, Arkansas - a Piggly Wiggly, I think - that would make round loaves of bread, not sliced, and sell them for 8 cents a loaf. Mom bought 5 of them one day and before we could drive the 20 miles or so to home, three of them were all hollowed out - and Mom was an offender, too.

Hahaha - good for her, at least she had to share the blame - great story aknan. Off to the solicitor this morning to finalise the change in title deed. I have found some information about property settlement and want to verify it for my own peace of mind. Hugs.

I forgot to add that my dad ate the crusts; that was his favorite part anyway!
Peace be upon you, aussie. Hugs.((()))

Lol - sounds as though you had great parents Aknan. Hugs.
My mom would make bread from scratch, loved the smell of it baking. Dad would be the first one to cut off a big slice of it and load it up with peanut butter. I don't make it from scratch like she did but I do make the frozen loaves, still smells great!
