Hello toadalove thanks for the welcome...but have been busy digging out of the blizzard we had. Got a little time to play before I have to go do other things. I eat cheerios dry as a snack...but I prefer oatmeal on most mornings with some cinnamon.

It's such a bummer getting old. I have problems with milk and have to take pills for it. I have other medicine because my gall bladder is out so in the a.m. I have to eat something that mixes with the medicine. I have cereal as a night snack but never liked corn flakes much. Cheerios (esp honey nut) rice chex, granola and as with many of you raisins--lots of them! Strawberries or cherries go in the morning pudding and medicine mix.

Hi pixipixil, You're right! It's a bummer getting old. I'll be 60 on 3/3 and my mornings is pills and lots of water. I feel like I'm drowning even before breakfast. I've been on gall bladder meds too, but had it removed. Thyroid meds make me sick to my stomach, so I have to eat something within 20 mins after taking that pill. Love raisin bran dry as an evening snack. Have you ever tried Lactaid milk, it has worked for me.

I have Lactaid milk with my cereal. I also take pills if I'll be eating anything with lactose in it. Just before I eat. I love Rice Krispies with milk and sugar. Hot oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar. I don't add milk to it, just cook with water. I have ibs so anything that's other than rice or oat is out. Sob, I miss my cornflakes.

Hi Tomandray and Taffi:
I'll be 67 3/26. I haven't tried Lactaid milk. I use regular skim milk but take a lactose intolerance pill b4 bed that does the trick. The Lactaid pills didn't work for me. I use Digestive Advantage. My other pill is for high cholestrol. I'm not overweight and my other vitals are fine but the cholestrol just kept climbing so I'm on statins which, from reading about them on the internet, I discover prevent the body from rebuilding muscle as it blocks CoQ10 from forming. So that means another pill I prescribed for myself--and so it goes.

You got to keep trying stuff cause a lot of the stuff they prescibe just does not work on every one. I like not having a lot of prescribed stuff and use the Natural stuff.

Hi pixipixil....Have you ever tried probiotics? They have been working for me as I have had a digestion problem for a couple of years. I started low and slow, 1 billion microorganisms twice a day, then worked my way up to 10 strains/20 billion microorganisms only in the morning after a 1/2 hr. I take my thyroid med, wait 1/2 hr and then eat breakfast. Hope that helps you. CoQ10, I have not taken for a couple of years, didn't seem to work. Instead I do push-ups of the wall. My chiropractor told me to do this as I have a problematic lower back. I just stand 2 feet away from the wall, facing it. Then lean in with my palms flat against the wall and push out, start out slow. Hope this helps you. :)

I have irritable bowel syndrome so I take a daily natural laxative that dissolves in water. That's in the morning. Then, before my evening meal, I take a probiotic. And I'm on multiple depression meds, plus I have a thyroid pill. Sometimes I feel like I can open my own pharmacy!

When my dad was alive he was taking something like 39 pills a day. He died of kidney failure--only had one--after some years of dialysis.
I thought I'd never start taking pills like that but it has begun! Thanks for the advice. I have done probiotics but no good. I have numerous adhesions and probies stimulate me which makes me sick. I also have diverticulosis and have to be careful about that. What helps me is doing qigong--a type of tai chi. I do the harmony exercise group. There's a Russian (i think) who demonstrates it on youtube. It's very gentle and graceful.

Pixi, the probiotic that I use is called Align. It's specially made for those who have fibromyalgia so it has to be gentle. The laxative comes from helpforibs. Com and again, not just for ibs. I'll have to check that qigong. Thanks for that.

TomandRay, I have an opposite problem with my thyroid medicine. I have to take it on an empty stomach and wait at an hour before eating.

Like other commenters, I have to eat whatever keeps me regular and can't just eat everything I want anymore. When I just can't resist and I go ahead and eat, I regret it.

Me too. I'm on omeprazone now. Starting Palm Sunday I was getting prolonged bouts of reflux every three hours but thank God this medicine seems to have stopped it. I really thought I was going to end up I the hospital. Taffi and tomandray, I'll be seeing my gastroenterologist next week (actually a nurse practitioner as he just died) and will see what she says. Thanks for the input.
I love cold cereal! Sometimes I eat it for dinner! And yes, the date stamp is wonderful! And like Rozina 1010, I love hot cereal (oatmeal) especially if it has lots of brown sugar and raisins --I think that I take out the health factor with all the added ingredients! But I do like fresh fruit when it is in season!
I am with you terabyte - love my oats, sultanas, crushed nuts and cinnamon sugar lol - very healthy indeed ;)

Yes hot oatmeal is great...with fruit, nuts, a little organic honey now and then...it is practically a meal! Live a little as long as you don't have a sugar problem. Enjoy, life is meant to be lived.

Love cream of wheat with cinnamon and raisins on a cold day, blueberries when in season. : )

Had some cream of wheat w/cinnamon, milk and strawberries this morning. Currently the only blueberries are the frozen kind...but soon we can all enjoy them. Keep warm.

the date stamp is in the upper right corner of the post. It dates the post when it was typed and sent.
