I have been doing these puzzles for a couple of years now. I love the majority of them. It has been really nice competing with "crabman".
By the way, the name of this specific puzzle is wrongly named. There are no pancakes in this picture. Those are crepes. I know it, because I'm actually from France.
Glad to see that someone else recognized crepes, but I thought maybe crepes were called pancakes -- or translated into pancakes -- from another language.

Well, there are many countries that uses English. In the USA, it's not the same thing & they don't taste the same either. The ingredients are also different.

No they are not. They look a little similar, but crepes are much thinner & taste really different.
By the way, I grew up in France, so I know exactly what I'm talking about.
I researched the origin. Being French, I thought it came from France, but I just found out that it originated in Ancient Greece and probably was spread through the Roman empire, all over Europe.
The word "pancake" was not seen until 15th century UK. The word "crepe" was seen in France starting the 12th century.

I researched and read something different. It's not really that important.
They look like crepes. My mother used to fill them with jelly and then roll them up. I still do that sometimes for my grandchildren and would do that for my great-grandchildren if they liven nearby. I make home made freezer strawberry jam. YUM!
I have a big prayer request, but I really don't know how to word it. I live in Colorado. Three years ago an insane person walked into a theater just a couple blocks away from my church where I was the secretary. He shot and killed 12 people and injured 72 others, not to mention those injured by the lose of their loved ones. (One of those killed was the best friend of my daughter-in-law's sister who lives with us.) It has affected all of us more than I can describe. Then last Friday, an insane man walked into a Planned Parenthood office in Colorado Springs (where I grew up) and had a shoot out with police, killing 1 police officer and 2 civilians, and injuring many others. The police officer that was killed was a husband, father of 2 young children, and a Pastor in his church. They haven't released the names of the other 2 killed yet. Everyone is still in shock, and of course the politicians are trying to turn it into a political situation because of the location of the event.
My prayer request is...When is this insanity going to stop?? How do we reach mentally ill people before they snap? And how do we comfort those left behind? I wish we could all go back to the 50's when life was simpler and you never heard of things like this happening, even in nightmares. I better get off my soapbox and end this now. Just please pray.
Yes joyce, this news reached us in Australia as well. Terrible things and I have a good friend who is an American and who believes everyone should be armed. I think the opposite way as it would just breed more insanity such as you have described. We will only have perfect peace when the Lord returns to claim His church and I believe that is not all that far away. I will pray for you and all those involved or touched by this tragedy. Take care and God bless. Hugs.

Prayer for the mentally ill and those who care for them.

It seems you can't watch the news without hearing of another incident like this. Getting help for the mentally ill is only part of the solution. Stopping the flow of guns into our towns and cities is necessary. Background checks must be put in place. No one wants to take guns away from responsible, sane people. The issue is preventing the mentally ill and violent criminals from being able to buy them.

Joyce, We will of course pray for peace and an end to the kinds of insanity that you describe. But I'm afraid that some of the blame for these kinds of events lands squarely in the lap of politicians who don't seem inclined to provide places - like there used to be - for unbalanced people to be housed and cared for. I know politics is a subject that we stay away from here on C4J so that's all I'll say about that.

I don't know. I wonder how the Lord can stand the cries that come up to Him because of the injustice and pain in this modern world. We are all given so many "rights" that even if one feels someone is mentally ill, nothing can be done without their consent--until they do some violent act. I don't want to give up my rights, but I wish there were a way to identify and help these people, too. And you are right, politicians jump on every thing for their own agenda, making it worse. I don't know any answer except prayer, and to try to recognize those that need help, and offer my friendship.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. It's a very hard topic to pin down, because every solution has a problem attached to it. I can only pray that the only one who knows all the answers, our Lord and Savior, returns soon and saves us from ourselves. God bless...
