It is in beautiful shape for a covered bridge. Most of the covered bridges in Ohio, USA are old, and mostly not maintained very well. But we won't cross that bridge until we come to it.
We have several covered bridges here in Oregon, they are all old ( as far as I know ) and some are not maintained but I just love seeing them so ParsonWayne I don't think I will cross that bridge when I come to it lol ;-)! Be safe out there

My comments about the bridges applies to a lot of us older adults too.
I didn't know you could get them more then once. I know they can be pretty painful,. I've never had them but know people that have. My kids talked me into getting a vaccination for them. Hope it works. Hope you get well soon.

Same here, feisty. That's scary. Maybe you should have your immune system checked out. Prayers on the way.

I am so sorry fiestyolelady. My uncle had them and they can be so painful. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Praying for your healing
Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort,
You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with your servant in this illness. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to your servant. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and sickness from her body.
Dear Lord, I ask you to turn this weakness into strength, this suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort for others. May your servant trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of this suffering. Let her be filled with patience and joy in your presence as she waits for your healing touch.
Please restore your servant to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from her heart by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through her life. As you heal and renew your servant, Lord, may he bless and praise you.
All of this, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Jingles, where are you located? I'm in Tucson, AZ, and the shot was more than I could afford. I've seen shingles on other people, and I sure don't want anything to do with them. My heart goes out to Fiestyolelady.

If you are on medicare I think it pays for it. It didn't when I got mine but at the time I could afford the $200. Now I hear my secondary insurance also pays for it. Check it out. Your doctor should be able to tell you.

OUCH! I/ve had them, only ONCE, and assumed that would be it. But, I've heard that a recurrence is to be expected. I hope you get through it OK Mine happened just 2 days after a flu shot..

Shingles is really nasty and if you've ever had chicken pox, you've got the virus in your body. For those who find the shot expensive (Medicare won't pay for this! ), try Costco. In AK, the shot costs $125; it's probably less Outside. Also, our Senior Health Clinics offer the shot for free to lower-income seniors.
Good luck to all of you, hugs, and may God's healing blessings flow to you.

I'm sorry to fiestyolelady. My mom had the worst case of it the doctors have seen. She still has pain from it off and on even 2 years after she had it. It is horribly painful. Older people who get it tend to have the pain last way longer than younger ones. Medicare does not pay for the shot. In Texas its $200. I have heard you can have it more than once. Since this is the 3rd time you might want to see if your doctor feels it would be best for you to get the shot. Your doctor or pharmacist might can tell you how to get the shot cheaper. I pray you heal quickly and the pains not to severe. Light hugs.

Just checked with my insurance company, and they do cover it this year, with a $45 copay. I'm going to be getting one as soon as I can, probably in March.
According to some of the older residents of my home town, when there was a covered bridge south of town, many farmers who drove horse drawn wagons would often stop inside the covered bridge to get out of the sun for a while.
I was about 7 years old when the bridge burned down - I remember when we would drive through the bridge, my mom or dad would usually honk the horn, which, for some reason, was the traditional thing to do. The same was the case when driving under a railroad bridge.

Years ago there was a stone railroad bridge near my home in Pennsylvania. You could not see through it. Everyone stopped, honked the horn and proceeded through the tunnel.

Phillyinpa thanks for making remember my Dad would honk the horn all the way through it and we would laugh all the way. Don't know why or when he started doing this, just know we thought it was the best fun. Thanks and be safe.

My dad always did that, too. We giggled at the echoes in the longer tunnels.

I wonder if the horn honking was originally a way to let any oncoming traffic to know that there was another car in the tunnel or covered bridge. I know the covered bridge that was near my home town was only 1-lane. Some of those older tunnels in the Appalachians can be pretty narrow from what I remember in West Virginia, 40-50 years ago.

Good thought about the honking as a warning, JamieT.
