I have always loved tulips! At about age 8 I wanted to be like everyone else and take flowers for teacher in the spring, only we didn't have any. I remember picking a tulip from my neighbour's yard one morning and hiding it in the yard until I left for school. I was so proud to have something to give the teacher! Thinking about it now, I am quite sure my neighbour may have seen me from a window that morning--but you know she never said a word about it, not even the day I locked myself out of my parents' house in a snowstorm and she let me in to wait for someone to come home.
What a blessing to have a neighbor like that! Yesterday I had a visit from an aboriginal family who live not far from me. Every time my lemon tree produces fruit, they come to see me and I given them some every time. Unfortunately they pick them before they ask me if they can have some lol!!! And then I run out of them and I need them for my arthritis and have to buy them. So I have come up with an ingenious plan, I am going to buy them a lemon tree plant in a pot and they can grow their own lemons lol. Not sure if that will work, but worth a try. Hugs.

Orinoco, your neighbor probably wasn't the type to make a big deal over a kid picking a flower once in awhile, especially since you weren't destroying her garden. She probably also knew your parents or at least spoke to them occasionally.

Aussie, that's a good plan to do for your neighbors. I hope it works too.

Aussie, what a perfect solution to a problem with neighbors that can only be a win-win solution. Perhaps with that gift you could ask them for a recipe exchange & start off by explaining to them what you need to do with that particular fruit. As always, I believe you are quite spiritual. World needs more people like you in it. Many hugs!

KNadine, I can see it as if it were yesterday, instead of nearly 50 years ago. They had about half a dozen tulip plants, two by two, in their yard, so taking one would have really spoiled the symmetry. And yet she never said a word...if she'd spoken to my parents about it, I'd have "heard" about it all right! So to speak.

Orinoco, I meant if she knew your parents, she probably knew that you were a good kid so she felt it was okay. It might have been different if you had been one of those kids that liked mess up stuff.

Aussie, try Borax, use it for your arthritis, you dissolve it in water, check it out on the Internet. I have a friend who cancelled his surgery after trying it and another who's arthritis went away also. Cheers

I love how the conversation changed from talking about tulips to that of lemons and a lemon tree! Hugs all the way around.
