I think these are the cause of a lot of back problems for children when I was a kid in school we never hd them and there were very few kids with back problems
I don't know about that. When I was in school we didn't carry backpacks either, but we had loads of books and carried them on our hip. That, apparently, caused a good deal of scoliosis.

I think you are right about the cause of some scoliosis. Now the kids carry backpacks, very few of which are adjusted properly. It killed me to see the preschoolers get on my bus with backpacks loosely hanging off their small bodies. Correctly adjusted, the weight should be toward the upper center of the back. Ask any avid hiker. There are far too many 17 year olds who already have somewhat hunched shoulders.
Most of my homework was unfinished classwork due the next day. In elementary school I could leave books In my desk. In high school they stayed in the locker. Now children have to carry them all day.
I think today's school children have far too many books to lug back and forth.

That is why I like doing it on line. It does create some problems though such as computer crash or things that do not upload like they are supposed.it is still better than carrying all that stuff. Besides, I get to stay home in case hubby needs for something, such as a sugar drop or anxiety attack.
Have a blessed day Miss Aussie.

Kids today definitely have too much homework. Even in first grade, there's an hour or so. Parents spend more time teaching their children than teachers do! Most of it is not because the teacher is incompetent, but because of the myriad reports and evaluations of each child's progress that he/she must do. We need to get back to teaching!
