Beautiful. People living west of where I live, are having "bear" trouble. However, they leave their trash cans out, feed them, etc so now new rules are being made. People just do not use common sense. If they can get food, they do. Very simple!
Elijah, the carelessness of people is why we have a bear problem here in Anchorage. The bears go after dog food, bird seed, garbage (in cans or not, even in bear-proof cans! ) and have even been known to raid freezers (some folks up here have them on a back porch or arctic entryway.) With the mild winters we've had the past two years, the bears aren't even properly hibernating - they just take long naps and come out to forage again.
I've always been fascinated by bears, although I thought Gentle Ben was kind of boring as a kid, probably because of the people.
In college, I had a yellow-ish color terry cloth robe and my nickname was Pooh Bear - people that I knew for years could never remember my name because they had always called me Pooh.
Lots of these in the mountain area where I live leave them alone and they stay away never feed them if you don't want them around once fed they will stay forever

God bless you all.
