Does anyone need more buttons? Come to my house....I have hundreds and hundreds of them in my button box, plus the ones I inherited from my Mom. Free to anyone.....
When I was young and getting into trouble, my Mom would sit me down with her button box. It was a large ornate metal treasure chest filled with about 400 buttons of every kind and size. I spent hours looking at each one.
I've got so many, many buttons, needles and thread in a box in my linen closet that I will probably only use once a year. I take all my clothes to a seamstress in town. So much easier, since I hate mending.
Sewed buttons back on my clothes many time through the years, however it has been at least a year since I've done so. Oh well, I'm not bemoaning that fact, as I hate sewing and mending.
Dbnc that is so funny my mother saved buttons also. She had a huge can of old buttons and on rainy days she would let us play with them. I used to go through them and see how many matching ones I could put together. Always was the same buttons and I had my favorites and would look for them, just to make sure Mom hadn't used them. Now I have my own can of buttons and I still collect them. I have no idea what to do with them now though lol! You all be safe.

I think there's a whole lot of us around whose mothers and grandmothers had button boxes. I, too, have one handed down from grandmother to mom then to me, and I remember playing with some of the buttons in it!

I volunteer for a group of seniors that knit and crochet various things. There's also sewing going on. They're always looking for buttons. Sadly though, our button jar is not putting forward sets. So now, we're buying them!
