I wish that Christmas wasn't hyped so very much. I saw Christmas decorations at a store before Halloween. We are immersed in Christmas so glorified that it begins to get tiresome and even irritating. It is such overkill that by the time the Big Day finally arrives it seems anticlimactic. As in that famous song, "Is that all there is? " It is actually depressing. Makes one wonder, "What is wrong with my family? The rest of the world seems overjoyed." What if a person is alone? A simple visit to church to observe the miracle of the Savior's birth and perhaps a few simple family gifts (that do not have to be paid for over the whole coming year) should serve as a suitable observation. WHY IS IT DONE - ER - OVERDONE SO BIG? Why isn't Jesus enough reason for the season?
Well, that is my 2 cents worth. No thanks on the Christmas candy.
I agree with you totally, Starrphyre. Overdone, overlong, over expensive, over, over, over, and yet seems to never be over.
Shop the week after for NEXT Christmas. I would willingly share your simple visit to church and perhaps simple, handmade gifts to a few family members or close friends.

Just thank your lucky stars that you can celebrate Christ's birth. In some parts of the world you cannot. It may not be too long and we may not be able to either.

It is not the celebration of Christ's birth I object to - and I am very thankful we still have that right. It is the celebration of Santa Claus and the spirit of capitalism that bugs me.

Did you hear about the lady that bought her kids 300 Christmas presents and put them under the tree?, all you could see was the top two feet of the tree, so sad. That is not what Christmas is about.
Owww red and white toothache. not my favourite kind of sweet, but brings back very sticky memories of days at the fun-fair - this and candy-floss. both always seemed to get stuck in my hair. Now I'd sooner have a block of rich plain -dark- chocolate.
Yes it was hard. I used to hand peppermint candy canes on our Christmas tree. The grandchildren loved searching for them to get them off the tree. Still do a few, but the grandchildren are older now and it's not quite as exciting.
I know what you mean. I used to hang about a dozen candy canes on our tree when the kids were small and they would slip them off the tree branches and run outside to eat them.

My children have hobby horse ornaments made from felt that require a candy cane as the stick. I made a rule that they had to wait until Christmas to eat the ones on the tree. The three of them could eat a dozen candy canes a day otherwise.

That's funny - my kids got the hobby horse ornaments from each of their teachers when they were in elementary school. We still hang them on our tree.
Heat can really sap your energy, can't it? Take a nap - the people in hot countries have the right idea - an afternoon siesta. Hugs, aussie.

If I could I would send you some of cooler weather. I don't have very many friends here and my family is in another state. I want to thank you all for the prayers and thoughts.

The heat can really sap your energy - yes, siestas are a great idea.
Goof - I hope you're able to talk with your family (assuming that they're sympathetic and/or empathetic - not all families are).

Goof, you won't find a more caring, uplifting bunch of people than those on this site.
I have 12 candy canes that are about 3-4 years old. They're still wrapped in their cellophane, and I use them for tree decorations each year. I don't think I want to eat one though! ;-)
I gotcha beat! I have some that are probably about ten years old. I put them with my Christmas decorations and they work the next year. They're all wrapped up and I doubt that it would kill you if you ate one but I'm not quite that hungry :-)

Good for you Jingles! That's cool! ;-) I'll keep mine as long as they're functional.
Well, that is my 2 cents worth. No thanks on the Christmas candy.
