My first visit to Chicago was when I was about 6 years old. We lived in Kokomo, IN My Dad was stationed in nearby Peru, IN. One time he had Navy business in Great Lakes and we went with him and enjoyed part of a day in Chicago. While Mother shopped in the new
Marshall Fields store, Daddy took his girls, ages 6 (me) and my sister, 2, for rides on the fascinating escalators --- up and down, down and up, up and down, down and up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At that point, escalators were not "enclosed" as they must be today. You could look all over store! As you can tell, it make quite an impression on me! Fast forward about 50 years I revisited Chicago and Marshall Fields. Not the same --- the view from the escalator is not nearly as vast --- safety rules, I suspect. Sometimes, you can't go back!
Beautiful picture of Chicago! And many people don't see the beauty there is in that city. There are ugly things, too, but this is a lovely picture of the big city. Blessings to all of you and enough blessings so you can share! Have a fabulous day!!
