I have no idea where he would've gotten the name from but didn't W.C.Fields say to a female in a movie "my little chickadee? "

Did an internet search and found that W.C. Fields and Mae West were in a 1940 movie titled "My Little Chickadee."

I was thinking of W.C. Fields with my question. Actually, I often wonder where people come up with the endearments they call their loved ones. Or other nicknames for that matter. Years ago I had a friend called "Bubbles". Would one ever guess where that ame from?

My husband calls me Egg. It comes from an arcade game we played when we were dating. You had to shoot animated eggs, but only the bad ones (with scars and eye patches). You lost points if you shot a good egg (with a smile). He started referring to me as a good egg and the nick name stuck.

One who did not know the story would surely wonder where that came from also.
"If we become uncomfortable in any given moment, we can look at a flower, a pebble in the street or the tire on our car and be grateful. We can gaze at a person in the distance or at a cloud in the sky and be appreciative. We can smile at a stranger, hug someone we know or tidy a disorganized shelf and be thankful for the opportunity. If we choose gratitude, we will be happy! " —Barry Neil Kaufman
They are cute little birds, aussie. We have hundreds, of not thousands, of them, all year long. I find them very entertaining, with their swift flight and cheery "chick- a-dee-dee-dee" call.

Been trying to think of that actor who used to use the word chickadee - but it escapes me. Hugs.

W.C. Fields - he called Mae West his "little chickadee" but I can't remember the name of the movie!
God bless you all.
