Both my roommate and I are cat lovers big time. We each have a cat and she has a guinea pig. My cats name is Marshalldillon and my roommates cat is named Cookie and the Guinea Pig is named Rawhide. I am a big western fan as you can tell from two of the names.

In some westerns the cook is called cookie, so you may have all 3 western names!

Such a beautiful kitty! Lovely colours. I miss having a cat but on our pension it's just not doable. Vet care is so expensive these days.

You've got that right Orinoco. And they pad it every way they can instead of attacking the problem head on. I blame mine for having to put my last cat to sleep at only 13. My other cat made it to 19.
We aren't going to have pets now. I miss my cat but not all the hair. Just could not keep up with it. Neither of my cats were cuddlers. (Gee what's a cat for anyway? ) So they sort of weaned me from having more.

I tutor English at home, and a lot of people here are so terrified of cats, several of my students wouldn't set foot in the door if they knew there was one in the apartment. I agree about the hair. My Saul crossed the bridge 15 yrs ago but still I find a stray hair clinging to wool sweaters now and then.

I can understand fear of dogs but cats? I did get a really bad cat bite once. I'm too tired now to tell you about it but if you're interested remind me.

Yeah I can understand about being fearful of some breeds of dogs. I had a sheltie who loved people and dogs. A neighbor told me their dog was scared of mine. I told her oh she just wants to play and ours had the same reaction with a bigger dog.

My neighbor refuses to understand that while she and her family may not be in harm's way from her lab, people he doesn't consider family are. One of our tree limbs fell in her yard and she huffily started complaining it hadn't been removed. I told her I'd do it right now if she kept her dog inside while I did. She got insulted.
PS that dog already bit my husband when he was jogging in the street in front of her house. Can you imagine if it came out and found me in the yard?

I hear you! My neighbour took in a stray and discovered it was a biter. She kept it. One day I went to ask her son a question, carefully avoiding getting too close to the dog or "invading its space." It snuck up behind me and bit me, drawing blood. The owner lied to me, telling me the dog had its shots when it didn't. I went to the ER and reported the bite there. They reported it to the authorities but because it was August and they were half-staffed, nothing was done. After that, the dog would try to go for me every time it saw me. The owner was offended when my husband told her if she didn't control it, he would turn her in again.

I think some folks get their jollies from having nasty pets. Sounds like your neighbor is one of them.
Herre's to such people having their pets turn on them. Not too viciously--just enough to teach them a lesson.

A lab that's nasty and that bites? This behavior doesn't sound like a lab at all. Many times the pet is fine with family members but around other people their testy. If I had a dog that was a biter I would have hired an animal behaviorist. I've never owned a dog that bites. Cats will bite when their groomed. Our sheltie went to the groomers and doggy day care. At the day care she was temperment tested and passed with flying colors. I knew she'd pass the test. She wanted to play and lick everyone - even dogs and kids. She had this test done at two different day care centers. We had a HVAC maintenance tech come and I said don't leave the front door opened. Yep he left the door open - she bolted out of the house and was almost hit by a car. The next time the tech came I put her in doggy day care. So sorry to hear you endured that. I've always kept up to date with my animals and their shots. Regarding being bitten I'm surprised animal control didn't arrive at the house. I lived with a cat owner who took it to the groomer - bit her and animal control arrived to check on the shot records.

I used to have two friends who are afraid of cats. While I tried to be sympathetic to their needs, I could never understand the fear. I adore cats, and can't imagine life without them.

I have an aunt who adores cats. Growing up she wanted to get me a cat. My parents especially my mom really didn't like them. I went to the grocery store with her one day. I was about 12 and she bought dog food. Then she puts cat food in the grocery cart. I said why are you putting cat food in the cart. She says oh you'll see and then after dinner they said lets go were leaving. My parents take us to the airport and couldn't figure out why. Then they go to the cargo area and said surprise this is your early xmas prezzie - a cat. So we had a dog and a cat without a tail.
