That's not all those tongues can pull in. My wife and I visited Fossil Rim wildlife park in Texas, where you can tour the park in an open-topped carriage. They give you a cup of the kibbles that they feed the animals. The giraffes have developed a technique: they stroll up to the carriage nonchalantly, nod...and clean out your cup with one swipe of the tongue!

I'm not sure if it's still there, but near Springfield, MO, there was a drive-through zoo. One of the first animals you came upon were ostriches, they would block your car by standing on the path and then start attacking your windows trying to get the food that you were just given at the entrance. I don't remember if it was another car pulling up or my dad slowly moving forward that finally got them to move.
I was once posing for a picture with a giraffe when the caretaker, without me knowing, held some leaves just above my shoulder and the giraffe licked my neck. Ewwww!!! Just in time for the picture.
When I first saw these amazing creatures alive and in person, I absolutely could not believe their size and height! It was at a zoo and I was totally astounded. No picture ever conveyed the truth about these guys. Wowie Zowie! They are humongous!
The other thing I noticed about them is they have a blue tongue! Quite surprising. It's also extremely flexible - as I found out when one reached for my candy bar!
