Almost here--St. Patricks Day. Tonight change clocks to Daylight savings time--hopefully for the last time. Bill has been signed to keep it on Daylight Savings Time. Now Congress has to approve it. Arizona and California have it this way.

Hi Tootzie, you live in a very beautiful country. Travelled through Europe some years ago and visited 19 countries in four months. My favourite? Norway. Love all the water, and all that goes with it. Hugs.

If I have a chance to travel like that, I would definitely go down under as part of my adventure. My nephew had the opportunity to go Australia on a school trip.
I would also do New Zealand and Vanuatu...maybe the Solomans and would have to stop in Japan either coming or going. But it all takes time and money...some day maybe.

Also was wondering about the yellow Kangaroo Paw plant puzzle, Zoozq was asking, are those leaves or bloom buds? Can you enlighten us?

Mar 20, 2013
Hi Tootzie, didn't see the zoozq query, but they would be the flower. They come in quite a variety of colours including yellow, reds and oranges and the leaves to the bushes are green. Tough as old boots as well, once you have one, it will always be there.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all C4Jers in front and in back of the puzzle boards. Thank you Ireland for potatoes. Love em almost any way you cook em. Can't say I like corned beef and cabbage much tho. Like Irish music. My mother was crazy for Bing Crosby and had 45's of him doing Irish songs. I loved "who Threw the Overalls in Mrs. Murphy's Chowder" but had to ask her what a "mick" was and what the song meant. I could never abide "i'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" as it would make me bawl even as a three year old. I still can't listen to it. And of course who doesn't love "danny Boy"? Another tear jerker but it doesn't make me cry like the other.

Ah, corned beef and cabbage...one of my favorite dishes year round! I, too, had a mother who was very fond of Bing. Thankfully, I inherited her good taste. :-)

I like Bing also. I have 78's of him singing Spanish songs and it's wonderful. I haven't listened in years. Maybe it's time to dust them off and give them a spin.

Was your mother from Ireland? My father was and I leared the song about Mrs Murphys chowder a a young girl. This is the first time that I have any one else know it. It sure brings back memories. Happy St. Patricks Day pixipixil

Top o the afternoon to ye Murphydog.
Yes My mother's father came from Limerick. My aunt went to Ireland to try to search for our roots but our name was too common and turned out to have originally been Scotch...so I guess I'm either Scotch by way of Ireland or Irish by way of Scotland. I've never been to either country.

Hi Murphydog, a very old song and would imagine that anyone of my vintage would have heard it, even here in Australia lol. Canada is a beautiful country and have fond memories of having lived there for a couple of years, in Ontario. Have a great day and God bless.

Can I have your Corned Beef and Cabbage? I also love potato but as hash browns best in the morning. Like Bing and Bob Hope movies you know the road to Bali and others. They were a great team. Mrs. M. 'S Chowder is a new song I learned 3 yrs. Ago in an Irish songs book zi bought at a music store...My first time hearing that one.

Hi Rozina;
My keyboard seems to skip every other letter and the ones it doesn't skip are often doubled so don't apologize. It happens to all of us. Hash browns is the best. Ever had a "mickey"?

No! Please explain what that is...

When the Irish first came to this country they were very poor and used to sell them on the street as we now have people selling hot dogs or tacos. They would wrap a potato in foil and place it in a tin can with hot charcoal. When it came out the skin was burned crispy and the inside white and soft. With butter and salt, there's nothing finer in the world. Because the slang for Irishman is Mickey and they were the only ones to sell these the potatoes were also named Mickeys.

Yum, sounds great! My gramma used to put an unwrapped raw potato with skin in the iron flat woodburning stove and give it to me when it was done. I ate the skin too as a kid. But it is tastier with salt, butter, even cheese or sour cream. Thanks for sharing pixipixil!
