100 years ago I got a job at Woodward and Lothrop in the gift wrap department. Yes they had a department for gift wrapping around the holidays. They taught me how to wrap gifts properly and put all kinds of decorations on them. I even made a few tips. The men were always grateful for gift wrapping because they had no idea how to wrap gifts. For quite a few years I wrapped all the gifts for my Mom and the family. I even put a sign on my bedroom door "Santa's Workshop". Now it is really a chore but I still like to give wrapped gifts.
When I was younger I use to wrap gifts with bows and ribbon. Not this fancy but my boys use to brag how their mother was the best. I think it has just gone out of style. More people to wrap for as the families grow.
