It is suprizing what you can do with the shells and hgow much pleasure the younger children and older end one can get asa much pleasure If you put the to your ear you can hear the sea and the waves clashing about, just make sure before you put them to your ear both the inside and the outer shell is very clean, we don:t want any creapy crawlers inside..
Seashells are a perfect creation created by God. The vulnerable sea creature has a very hard shell to live or retreat into in times of danger. So do we. John 3:16.
I love shells. I don't have a collection per se. You can sometimes buy assortments for a dollar at dollar stores. I do have a large nautilus (I think) that has been buffed down to the nacre and looks lovely on a stand my mother left me and a large conch that has a hole in it near the top, two abalones plus a few scallops. I had beach combed some huge clam shells thinking to paint scenes in them but I didn't have the knack so I lost them during one of our moves.
Wishing you a "gem" for whatever collections you may have.
So does anybody have an interesting collection?
I have a rather large collection of shells that I've found on various beaches. Every time I'm on a beach I swear that I'm not going to shell hunt. Within 30 minutes or less I'm out there in the shell-hunting posture going through the shells. I originally had so many that I discarded any that were broken. Now the collection is down to a few tons.

Don't know how interesting they are to anyone but me - I have an extensive collection of different sizes & types of kaleidoscopes and another of very small glass & semi-precious stones (usually opal) of turtles/tortoises.

Trynfindit, I have that problem with fabric. I have bins but still can't resist a new piece that's really pretty. I could probably sew stuff 24-7 for the next three years and not use it all.

Aknan, I love kaleidoscopes. I once bought a book for my dad with instructions on making them (secretly hoping he'd make a few for me) but he never made a single one. I love opal, too. Can't imagine you can have much variation in turtle figurines but I bet you can tell me how wrong I am!

They are all different - perhaps a head is cocked, the mosaics are of different opals and a couple are blown glass. All of them have eyes, too, and they're made of garnets. The bases for the opals turtles are all back volcanic glass. I get a kick out of them. They sit on glass shelves in my bath/dressing area and get rearranged weekly!

Pixi, my sister is the seamstress in our family, she can take a $2 thrift shop find and turn it into what looks like a very expensive dress. She also has a huge collection, like you, of fabric pieces and keeps adding to it. Hugs.

I didn't realize you had a sister, Aussie. I try to save things by constantly revamping them until they fall apart. I have a pair of shoes that have perfect heels and soles but the uppers which were skinny straps gave out. I bought leather to try to remake the uppers years ago but still haven't had the courage to actually try it.
Hugs to you and "sis."

Had a brother too, but he died over 20 years ago from cancer. And that's it! All my mother's siblings and my father's are all gone now, so my sister and I are at the top of the ladder now lol. Hugs.

My collection would be my yarn! I keep saying that's it, but then I find something that I just have to have! It's packed away in those large clear bins with lids that are snapped on (at the sides). Still need more lol Sending hugs to all of you. Take care of yourselves!
