Ooh...I live tomato soup with saltine crackers drizzled on top. Don't know why I haven't had a bowl of it in a long time. Maybe this will give me the boost I needed.

Sounds yum! Tomato basil is one of my favorite soups!
I love homemade tomato soup too. In fact I made kettle on Saturday for supper and had a cup for lunch yesterday and I still have some left or another lunch or two. Dos anyone else put baking soda in it so the milk doesn't curdle? My mom always made it that way. All this talk is making me hungry.
Canning hurts my back. When we had a veg garden I put them in a blender, cooked and froze them or sometimes just washed and froze them.

Cindyj-just had to speak to another golde retriever lover. You know, I do love ripe tomatoes with most of the foods I enjoy. Anyway, anykind, anytime. I remember back when I was a Pharmacist, all of my Italian patients used to bring me the best of their gardens. I loved their surprizes!

Sorry fellow Golden lover. I do not believe I can bring you any tomatoes. Would love to tho.
I used to love ham sandwiches and tomato soup, but living in Europe has changed my tastebuds and expectations. I remember one winter's day deciding to make my own tomato soup, as we don't have all the canned stuffs you have there. DH came in and asked me what I was going to put in that tomato sauce. I replied, "It's not sauce, it's soup! " "Looks like sauce to me."
When I triumphantly poured myself a cupful and tasted it...he was right. It was basically what we call "fried tomato"--something you would use as a base to stew meat or certain kinds of fish!
We grew up on tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Spanish was the only thing I could do decently well. I wanted to study in a country where it was spoken and my folks said, NOT Latin America! I would prefer to live up north where it rains and is cool, but love does not reason. I remember the student group being taken to see a flamenco show the first time I was in my city...if someone had told me I'd live the rest of my life a 10-min walk from the theatre I'd have laughed myself silly.
There used to be a restaurant here that used to make homemade tomato soup. My cousin has a restaurant here and they make homemade Tomato Basil soup. Oh so delicious!
oh how I miss having home grown
still miss caning my own
