Love goats. When I was a 3 year old girl, my Dad and Mom bought his deceased mother's farm from the other 8 children who had held shares in it. A family had been renting the farm and left a Billy goat when they left for us to move in. When a car would drive into the yard, he would come loopidy loop across the yard and leap onto the hood of the car and peer through the windshield at the intruders.
Needless to say, he couldn't scratch up everyone's cars with his hoofs. He was given away. I really liked him, but wasn't allowed to keep the naughty fellow. Goat cheese is good. Used to get it in Mexico. Espi in Illinois
We had a huge nubian that gave good milk. These look like long-haired nubians. My friend who lived in Africa said her friends had mixed flocks and the only way to tell sheep from goats was the sheep had long hair. So maybe these are African sheep! Nubians here have short hair, but the upright ears are their characteristic.
I never realized how much sheep and goats heads look alike until I saw this one, and you told about your friend saying they only had one way to tell them apart! verrrrrry interesting!
This puzzle reminds me of the song in the Sound of Music where Maria and the children are entertaining the guests at a party the captain gave during a puppet show. It is one of my favorite movies!
Put on your bucket list ---- The Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. They came to the US and found Vermont --- "a little bit of Austria, a lot of Vermont." Hope you love it as much as I do.

As Katherine Hepburn's father wrote in a letter to her when she was in college: "Always keep your cattle on a thousand hills. That makes it harder for anyone to get your goat."

That's a good one, AS. We used to raise Nubian Goats because I could not digest cow's milk.
That reminds me of the lion who came upon 2 men as it was searching for food - one was a reader and the other was a writer. Do you know which one he chose to eat?
The reader, of course, because reader's digest and writer's cramp.

I was raised on goat's milk too and still prefer it. In Spain they say someone is "crazy as a goat". I tell em I was raised on the stuff, which explains a lot! LOL

Me too and so was my son. I had a goat and milked her twice daily. We lived off the milk, cheese and yoghurt. And we had a veg garden and had had the other goat butchered for meat.
Plus we had eggs from our few chickens. We still bought groceries but it went a long way towards supporting us.
Would like a small farm and a goat as a pet again. We had an Alpine. I'd like the smaller Nubian if we ever do that. (Not likely.)

I looked up images but it's hard to get a good ;look at the puzzle ones as they are facing front and dark. From the web images I think silkies look the closest.

My pleasure. They groom these guys so their coats look like the long haired dogs' at the Westminster dog show.

Wonder if those goats had bad gas after eating 1/4 acre of cabbage.
Because they are always butting in.
And here's one for ParsonWayne
""Doctor, Doctor I feel like a goat".
"How long have you felt like that"?
....."Since I was a kid".

God bless you all. Have a great week end.
I think it might be the long ears and the beards.
