I do remember these. The first ones I went to was when I was in 6th grade in Chicago. We went across the street to the dime store for lunch--that was went it was safe to go out at that age alone or with some buddies--not any more. Sad!
Funny! I loved Woolworth's. My mom and I would sit at the counter and I'd get a hotdog, she'd get a patty melt. Even with all the great fancy hotdog places in L.A. Woolworth's were the BEST!.

My grandma would take us there for the malts in S.F. Miss those days like you said they were the BEST!

I loved Woolworth's, too. My Mom and I aways went for grilled cheese & cokes. I swear I can still taste those pickles.

Yes! Yum, yum! And of course it was fun looking at all the interesting things they had for sale. It was a place I could actually afford to get something on my allowance.
