What a great picture. We have a Coast Guard Station on our coast that looks much like this. It has a light house surrounded by several small houses that were once used by the few who were stationed there. It now has a small museum and they are trying to restore some of the buildings to reflect their historic background. It is also enclosed with dried grass and stubble.

If there wasn't an explanation of where this was, I would have thought that this was in the middle of somewhere that wasn't near a large body of water. There are several islands on the northern coast of the Netherlands called the Frisian Islands where the language is very close to English. When I visited Amsterdam in the early 1990's, the manager or owner of the hotel I stayed at, said that almost everyone in the Netherlands spoke English because they're so close to England.
