I got some batteries that were given out free of charge.
My dad used to bring them home at Thanksgiving. I love them. You can marinate them in a sweet liquor and they are beyond compare--called marrons.
I bought some at our grocers one year hoping to make chesnut stuffing for the turkey. When I shelled them they were moldy. They don't keep for long which I didn't know.

I think these might be horse chesnuts. You can't eat those. Chinese (edible kind) chesnuts don't have spikes on the outside.
