Jigsaw puzzle of the famous painting Fog off Mount Desert by Frederic Edwin Church painted in 1850. The painting depicts waves crashing onto the shore of Mount Desert Island off the coast of Maine.
Wonderful. Only have done one or two ocean paintings. One was on Mt. Desert Island but it was on canvas paper I think and I'm pretty sure I don't have it any more. I was a teen when I did it. It was a bay where the water was a very pretty green. Nothing like this piece.
I love all the cross currents and colors in the waves and foamy areas. I wonder if Church used photos at all. Catching something that changes constantly is so hard. We used to live near Church's mansion Olana overlooking the Hudson River. Haven't been back there in many years. We're living further north now.
Looks like Mt Desert is carved in the very bottom brown rock!

Probably more the fact that I have 22" high definition monitor that my son got for me, than my eyes. Lots of things show up with it that I didn't see before.

There is also a sailing ship in the background, and also a port or town in the far cliff area in the background.
Thank you team for this one I really do enjoy these pictures with the sea going into the rocks, these type of picture always remind me of the sailors whom have lost their lives, and we should never forget what they did for us. God bless. Santa.
