Great quote from Steve Jobs, and the joke made me groan and then laugh! My husband loves jokes like this. Have an excellent day, elijah13!

Our Alaska Railroad trains run daily from Fairbanks to Seward, about 900 miles. Only railroad in the state. Very striking yellow-gold and blue paint. They go right through the center of Anchorage and a spur line goes to the city of Whittier through the longest shared-traffic tunnel in the US.

You ladies have been so lucky to experience that ride. I have heard that is one of the most beautiful scenery on train rides in the world.

Aknan --- I love your home state ---- but I've only been there in the summer --- 3 trips. I am used to the severity New England winters, but Alaskan winters are more so!
I wish everyone who doesn't understand global warming could have had my experience in Alaska. On the first trip, I remember the Mendenhall Glacier and where it reached. On the next trip --- maybe 5 or 6 years later, it had receded considerably. You have to see it with your own eyes --- to believe it.Another phenomenon --- the large size of the vegetables --- shorter growing season, but longer daylight in the summer!

I'm working on this one now. Back in the early 60's my grandma and I road a train from Iowa to Greely, Co. to visit family during the summer. I was 9 or 10. The train wasn't this fancy. It was old with smoke coming out from under it. Was so much fun. When my Grandma took a nap I snuck off and found a huge window that went from top to bottom of the train and saw a bunch of deer running gracefully away across the field. That was a long time ago but will never forget it.
We live about 2 1/2 miles from where I grew up so I've heard them all my life. We can't see the trains that run near us but we do hear them. I like hearing their rumble and the horn at night.
"Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick. Don't fose faith." Steve Jobs
What did one leaf say to another? I'm falling for you!
Have a great day!
