Good morning all. Very pretty flowers. I have never seen saffron growing before. I noticed on the description it mentions crocus, they do look similar. I had no idea they may be related. I always look forward to seeing my crocus pop their heads up, it means spring is on the way.......no sign of them yet. Aussie how are you doing, any better? Also have you heard anything from ParsonWayne? Mamag how are you and Chip doing? Winston has gotten so big, I had forgotten how fast they grow, right now he is trying to help me type this and we just got done feeding the cats. I don't think he has been around cats before he seems very curious, but friendly and I don't think the cats know what to think about it. I know all the snow on our roof is gone because our cats get up there and chase each other around and play up there. Can here their little feet running around and playing. Never seen cats doing that before....so funny. You all be safe and take care.
Darambo, when I was a teen, we lived in a century-old farmhouse with a veranda that stretched all across the front of the house. I had the entire upstairs as my bedroom and had a sleep-over with 4 of my girlfriends. Just as we were falling asleep (very late! ), we heard this thunderous sound from the porch and it scared a couple of my friends who thought someone was breaking in. I knew that sound and said, "relax - it's only the kittens playing on the porch! " Amazing how such little feet can make so much noise!

Akan good to hear from you. I hope you and your hubby are doing well. That was a cute story. Before we had the cats every once in a while we would hear squirrels running across the roof so when the cats started doing it we thought it was really big squirrels until we actually saw them doing it. It really is funny how animals who are so light on their feet can make noise. Be safe and take care.
Saffron is the stamen on this crocus (it is a member of the crocus family) and it takes thousands of them, all harvested by hand, to make a pound. Any wonder saffron is so expensive? It mostly comes from the middle east and western China, I'm told, usually harvested by women and children for mere pennies.
I didn't even notice until I got into the puzzle that these are saffron crocuses. I've got an order in for a few of them to put in our garden this year.
