I've been baking since age five. My Daddy loved desserts best of all and I loved him best of all. Unfortunately he died when I was thirteen, but I still would rather bake desserts than anything else.
This is funny that today's puzzle would be about baking as I got up this morning and as it has rained all night and all morning and is cool for a change I decided to do some baking. Just now got on to do the puzzle of the day.
I started out with bread, then some rolls with scrambled eggs, diced ham and cheese in them. Not wanting the oven heat to go to wast while waiting on them to rise I made a dish of brownies and some ginger cookies also.
Now everything is done with the kitchen cleaned up and now the rain has stopped with the sun out nice and bright!!
I feel like baking this morning. I always do when I am stressed. I need your prayers, please. Especially for God's peace. I know He is in charge of all situations but I am having trouble finding peace today. Yesterday afternoon I found out I have a small tumor on the back of the inner ear, pressing on the nerves affecting my hearing and my facial muscles. It is called an Acoustic Neuroma. As they always say, "we found it early and that means a better chance of getting rid of it". Will be seeing a specialist at UCSF (University of California, San Francisco) as soon as it can be arranged. Thank you all, I know I can count on you.
Dear nlb, you must be very effective in your Christian walk to have so many attacks. I pray that all will be well. God bless. Hugs.

Hi nlb:
I am praying right now that you will be able to have this speedily, completely and as painlessly removed as possible.

And thank all the rest of you who sneaked in there when I wasn't looking. It always gives me comfort to know I am being prayed for all around the world. God bless you all. And God bless C4J staff for letting have the freedom to share this way.

Adding my prayers to the list, Our God is an Awesome God!
I love to bake. But I always make a mess with the flour no matter how hard I try not too. First thing that struck me about this puzzle was how neat and tidy it all is.
A messy cook is one of the best cooks. So don't be afraid of making a mess and some mistakes come out tasting the best. Be well and enjoy.

There was a short story in a Ray Bradbury book about a grandma who always made the most wonderful meals and baked goods but her kitchen was a mess and she cooked by estimation. One day her grandchildren decided as a surprise to organize her kitchen and get her recipes exactly noted. Her food never tasted right again.

Hi Globug, :)) Neat and tidy and baking don't seem to mix well. I always wind up getting flour on the floor. Did bake yesterday, before seeing the puzzle. Made a blueberry coffee cake for my hubby. Have a great day. :)

Hi goof1953 you are right about mistakes sometimes coming out tasting the best. Tomandray your blueberry coffee cake sounds good. I might just make one this weekend. And pixi I like that story about the grandma. I cook by estimation too. When people ask me for "my recipe" I tell them I can tell them what's in it but not the exact amounts. Hope all have a good day
Sad news all, am grieving for my best friend. She passed away at an early age to cancer. Please keep her family in your prayers and me too. It seems to be epidemic with cancer diagnosis around here. Every 2 or 3 people either are undergoing treatment or have died from one form or another. My prayers to all who are undergoing treatment to be successful and stay in remission.
My mother use to make the best sponge cake in the world. but never ever saw her weigh anything

My mother, baking in the 1930's: I found for a cake, a smidgen of this....and a pinch of that, and cook slow with two sticks of wood. Glad we have stoves, electric and gas!

Just got my new stove put in. It was a hassle. Turned oout the old stove was wired directly to the fuse box so we couldn't remove it. Had to have an electrician. New stove sat in garage then the delivery didn't come thru. Finally in tonight but we have to cook off some coating on the coils so we're waiting for morning so it doesn't smell up the house overnight.
Nibuchanan, sorry you are having health issues. It does seem to pour them out sometimes in abundance. but remember that He is bigger then all our troubles. He will never, never leave us. We might not feel Him, but that is only feelings and He is there. will be praying for you.
