What a lovely cottage by the sea...."Calgon, take me away!! " If you know this signature quote for bath salts, you are in my generation!! Have a most excellent joyful day and let the blessings and hugs fill your soul with love!!
Loved both the bath salts and the commercials! Now, I make my own bath salts and fizzies.

Nborchardt, I surely do remember the Calgon ad. One of my Facebook friends started a thread that had folks put in part of an ad's slogan or jingle and have others fill in what it was or the company advertising. I don't remember seeing this one. Will visit that thread again and put it in. An oldie but a goodie! Hope you and all your loved ones are safe and well.

Wow! I have never imagined that someone could make that product in their home! That's wonderful!!

I have also made "bath bombs". Though I shower instead of a bath, they make wonderful gifts for my ladie friends. And with the right scent I have also had male friends who liked them.

It's really simple, nborchardt. For the bath salts, take one part coarse kosher salt to two parts epsom salts, add a few drops of your favorite fragrance oil, mix well and store in a tightly-sealed ziploc bag. I make my batches in quantity - 3 pounds coarse kosher salt (one box), 6 pounds epsom salts (one large bag) and 1/2 ounce essential oil. This gives me 3 1/2 quart bags. This can even be used in jacuzzis without a problem. I use it lavishly and also give it as gifts.
The fizzies are a bit harder - 5 cups baking soda to 2 cups calcium citrate (I get this at a natural foods store and don't buy it if it's hard). Stir like crazy, add 1 ounce fragrance and stir like crazy. Keep stirring while spritzing with witch hazel, but don't over-wet or you'll have a reaction! Press firmly into molds (I use one for making snowballs), let set 5 minutes, then turn out carefully and let dry for 4 or 5 hours. Since I can only make half a snowball in the mold - you can't fold it over with this - I match up 2 halves and wrap them tightly in saran wrap. It almost takes more time to type this recipe out than to make the product!
This looks pretty. I hope to get to it tonight. I had to grocery shop this morning so no time and now the garden is languishing for me to water it.
Today we are married 49 years.
Wishing you all the inspiration you need to face life with enthusiasm.
Pixi, how wonderful! 49 years is rare today. Blessings on both of you!

Thank you aknan, trynfindit, aussie, joyce and mamag. Having your good wishes makes the event that much sweeter. We didn't do anything special but I made a dish I never tried before--fetuccine alfredo. I used linguini and watched a video to see how to do it. I forgot to put in the wine but did a bit of adjusting on my own--I began by cooking 5 strips of thick bacon. I left a bit of the bacon fat in the pan but removed the bacon. I added canola oil (I don't like olive oil but love olives-go figure)and sauteed the chopped onion. I can't tolerate heavy garlic which is why I needed the bacon to flavor things instead. After following the rest of the recipe (minus the garlic cloves)I added the bacon on top crumpled and smoked oysters. My husband was delighted with it. I halved the recipe. He can have the other serving tonight. For dessert later we had fruit cake and champagne. We went to sleep smiling. It was a good day.

Loved the sound of your fettucine alfredo - I think you cook a lot like I do. I alter recipes to our taste and add/subtract/substitute ingredients, too. The bacon was a great idea!

Yesterday I paid for the gastric experiment but I'm fine today. It was still worth it to have done something a bit special.

Sounds like a great dish. Glad you were able to celebrate...and to get over the gastric distress. :)

Thanks trynfindit. It's a one timer but I'm glad I did it.
