Thank you leia, dbnc and bopitextreme - not quite out of the woods yet as I will have to wait a month until the divorce is final and then he has 12 months in which to apply for a property settlement. The law says that he is entitled to a percentage of my property even though he didn't bring anything into the marriage (I owned it all) and did not support me. However, God gave me a miracle yesterday so am believing that He will do it again. Hugs.

And those miracles come at the right time and with the greatest joy! Prayers will continue!

Aussie that law is outrageous. I am glad I don't live in Australia...not that I ever expect divorce but then you didn't either. I don't know if I told you but my aunt divorced her husband who was carrying on an affair that wrecked two of his prior marriages. New Jersey law required she maintain residence with him until the divorce went through. He was being physically abusive so when he was at work she had the finished basement locks changed and sealed it off from the upstairs. She would sneak in and out to go to work in NYC.
Thankfully he never attacked her again. Divorce is such a terrible thing. Thank God you have faith or I don't know how you would stand it. Sending more prayers.

My goodness, Aussie, I had no idea you had filed for divorce. I have a 25-year estranged arrangement myself. The estranged half had refused to sign a divorce agreement years ago; now it's "his turn" to file for divorce. He wants to be married, though. Strange relationship. We do chat on rare occasions, and my half of a state pension does filter through his bank account. At least I get it. Fate and lethargy certainly has had its influence!

I'm now living in Boca Raton, Florida, with my daughter and her family.
