Yes I'm sure artisans do work like the one above. I'm predicting Italy. Their work can be quite intricate and they take great pride in their work.

I'd love to have a feature like that with a wall perfect for a window seat
that sticks out from the flat surface. Very fancy and certainly not modern but kept in great shape. There are so many wonderful things that can only be maintained if you have the money to pay a staff of others to do it. Can you imagine trying to take care of a place like this by yourself?

Beautiful. Reminds me of my highschool. It has beautiful designs on the outside of the building. It was a gift to the town in 1906 and is still used today as the highschool.
