I'd LOVE to have a go on that typewriter! I wonder how it would feel after all these years of getting used to a computer keyboard and how sensitive the keys are. Would the keys of such a typewriter feel 'clunky' by today's standards?
Interesting JAMP! My mother also had to quit teaching when she married in 1939. As I was her 7th and last child, our typewriter was a bit newer than this one. Isn't the ribbon installed wrong on this one - looks twisted on the left?
Fortunately the typewriter at my first job was an IBM Selectric with the "golf ball" type head. It was wonderful after having used manual ones all through school.
This was a fun puzzle.

When I lived over your way Karen I worked for the Shell Laboratories in Houston for 18 months first in the typing pool then was trained to use an MTST (Magntic Tape Selectric Typewriter) and these were the forerunners of today's word processors. Loved my work there. Hugs.
The first day my daughter had typing she come coming crying
because she couldn't type
that weekend we bought her a typewriter
that was many years ago
I am going to do my mystery for today
Good night and God bless. Hugs.
