A while back, we were asked to pray for the state of Washington, which was/is being consumed by fire. I must ask you now to do the same for California. On Saturday a fire started in an area approximately 20 miles from where I live. By nightfall yesterday it had consumed 50, 000 acres. I praise God it is moving to the south away from me but my heart aches for those who have lost everything. Hundreds of homes are gone. Commercial buildings and businesses lost. This is a rural area so there are large animals - cattle, horses, and more left to fend for themselves. Shelters have been set up for people and animals, both. Six firefighters were airlifted to our hospital due to severe burns. There is no part of California that has not seen it's share of fires this year - and the official "fire season" has just begun! I ask you to pray for this state and the many losses it has experienced, and still is.
Dear nlb, we have been getting the news of the fires here and my prayers are for rain. Terribly devastating, as bad as flood is, fire destroys everything. May God protect you. Hugs.

I have a friend in Cali that asked for prayer last night...it is moving away from her as well but it is only 30 minutes away. I'll keep praying...the pictures are so sad.

Nlb, the smoke from the California fires are blanketing Colorado right now. My lungs are very sensitive to smoke so I have been suffering along with you. Every time my lungs seize up and I have to use my inhaler to get a breath, I say prayers for everyone out there who has lost everything and are suffering so much more than I can even imagine. I'm watching the news right now and they are reporting about an elderly woman who died in her home, and many, many others who have lost everything they own. My heart hurts for all those affected including those involved in recovery efforts. May God hold everyone in His comforting hands and bring forth many blessings from the ashes...

Thank you all for your comforting prayers and thoughts. We Californians all appreciate them. It is heartwarming to see so many people reaching out to help in any way they can. Ilovebridge, what part of this big state does your friend live in?

Nlb - I saw some of the images on our local news this evening and it's hard to imagine the devastation you are enduring in California. You are all in my thoughts and I'm praying for you.

Nlbuchanan my friend lives in Windsor. She said some people are just releasing their livestock to fend as best they can. What losses!

Ilovebridges, I live less than an hour north of Windsor. Your friend and I are sharing a fire. What a warm feeling that is - until you really see the fire!!!

I have not been on here for the last few days. I have a job as a substitute teacher. I will try to get up. I have been hearing some really bad stories on the fires out your way. I will keep you all in prayer. On Sunday morning, can you let me know how things are going out there so I can let our church here in Virginia know and keep you all on our prayer list? Prayers are with you from me right now.

Thank you, mamag15. I will try to remember to post on Saturday what our weather is doing. Right now, it is expected to be back in the nineties by Sunday.

You got it! I wish we could share our rain here in Hawai'i to fall in California too. We have our own weather issues...with 9 hurricanes so far this year, flooding, volcanic eruptions, and potential tidal waves. We are constantly on alert! The weather is certainly keeping us on our knees! Aloha and blessings to all.
I agree with you maryhelen and so does olliebeak :) Hugs.

Add my name to the tally of votes for crochet. A great photographer does not mean a great knowledge the the workings in yarn. Tried their best but put a wrong label on the photo.
