Televisions over the mantle are a big no-no to me. But the brown sections of walls is a good idea.

Trynfindit --- I agree. A fireplace deserves it own attention!
A family room might have a television --- and maybe a fireplace. A living room should have a fireplace, but not a television. That is --- if money is no object!!!!!!

Another thought --- it isn't a room meant for conversation --- all seats face the same way--- not each other.
