Lemurs are from Madagascar, a large island off the southeast coast of Africa that has quite a few unique species. They seem to be pretty sociable animals - the last time I was at the Kansas City (MO) zoo, there were 4 ring-tail lemurs that were all sitting in a row, leaning on each other - kind of like the baby lemur in this photo, but there were 4 of them.
Isn't Nature something? No fooling around with equipment and everything nice and easy. The kid even knows how to hang on. Even if the young one happened to fall, they are close enuf to the ground so that it wouldn't be hurt.
