This puzzle kinda scares me. Only one-sided rail to hang onto & no floor to walk & run on.Kids or seniors or a selling cart could not make it jumping from the stone entrance & exit onto a rail at least 1-1/2 yards away. What would be the purpose of such a bridge?
Since it's an old bridge, probably some of it has fallen and hasn't been replaced. Doesn't look too sturdy!

The title does say "old" I'm thinking the functiong part has fallen away. No, I would not try to cross it in this shape either. God bless you, BayGrannie. Want to speculate on why the bridge was built and where it led?

P.S. and why it was allowed to fall into ruin.

I have to agree with aussie, elijah, I was hoping for a little more of a romantic/tragic tale. However, your response is probably the more realistic.

Nlb-I'm back after a troublesome 1-1/2 weeks-good part, we all learned something! Shall we continue our romantic/tragic novel?

I'm not going to continue it. I'm sure we can start a conversation on another puzzle topic! I do love the comments. I don't always write much, but sometimes I write quite a bit. I think we all learn from each other. Hope you have a good week.

I have learned since being on this site that there are a lot of beautiful and caring people on here. Hugs to all of you.
QUOTES - "Most humans are never fully present in the now, because unconsciously they believe that the next moment must be more important than this one. But then you miss your whole life, which is always in the present." ~ Roy L. Smith
Starting with unconscious incompetence, in learning a new skill we progress to conscious incompetence as we begin to practice a skill we have decided to learn. Then we move on to conscious competence as we master the skill - this is where discipline is required. And finally we arrive at unconscious competence when we need to give the skill very little attention at all, such as when we drive a car. Without that discipline we do not gain the desired ability. Discipline requires motivation, which itself requires envisioning clearly the outcome you desire and keeping that regularly in mind. Peter Shepherd - END
