You can"t really see where it originates from, so it could be water.

This is a pink Lotus. They are fairly common in Sri Lanka. Its quite common for Buddhists offer these flowers in veneration to the Buddha. Can be slightly fragrant too. In remote areas folks collect the seeds and boil them as for meals. The leaves are used as plates at meal time during the paddy harvesting time.

Also the Lotus root is a delicacy sold uncooked in markets.
