I loved my toe shoes. My dancing lessons & possible career was ended at 7 years old by being stuck by a car. I always wonder how long I would have danced.
Wow! This takes me back a few years. I took dancing lessons from the time I was three until I was married (at 21 years old). I loved every minute of dancing. Once my teacher took 4 of us to demonstrate some of our routines to NY to demonstrate them to people who wanted to start teaching dancing. It was the time of my life. We wore our costumes which we had worn in our dance review. This was in Richmond, Va. and my teacher was Eleanor Frye. She was wonderful and I still miss the lessons. Don't dance any longer now that my two children are grown. I needed to spend my time bringing them up. What a wonderful time dancing was in my life. When my daughter turned 3 years old, she began dancing lessons with the same teacher I had. Her name was Eleanor Frye Phillips...a wonderful teacher and person. I still miss it all!!!
It may sound silly, but I miss softball like you miss dancing! It was one of the best times of my life when I was on the field, pitching on our city's #1 team. We were together for 4 years, and I still have a friend from that time, about 40 years.
Did this as a mystery today. I'm one of the fortunate people whose second toe is longer than the big toe. So...when I look at these shoes I cringe! lol
Our HS had a dance unit for PE. We did folk and some ballet.

Our elementary school did some square dancing for PE. I already went to a square dance club every Friday night with my parents so I, my regular partner, and the other three couples in the club got to demonstrate all the new steps! Boy was I proud.

That's nice. We did square dance also and when we first moved upstate our neighbors who had taught recreation at NYU used to have weekly square and contra dance lessons that we attended. Then because of an allergy to deer fly bites, they moved to Florida and we stopped.

I've always been intrigued by square dance, but doubt I have the energy/strength to try it now. Sure is fun to watch though!

We did square dancing and tumbling in elementary school for a few weeks every winter. In high school we were told to make up a dance..No direction or critique until we performed, the results were laughable.

My daughter took a semester of dance in high school it could not be counted as a PE credit. She said it was more physical than anything they did in PE class.

Tell her not to dispair. If HS doesn't accept it, college might. I did roller skating competition for many years and my college allowed me to skip their PE requirement because of it.
