Why does the sphinx have such big legs and paws and such a small head? Why is the head so well realized and the rest so rough and approximate?
Wishing you interesting ideas to pursue.
The sphinx's legs are long because there is a road between them! Actually, it is a ramp that led down to a small temple in front of the sphinx's chest. Or so I have read.

Well they sure don't look like the same person did the whole thing. They don't go together at all.
I have pictures of my parents at the pyramids and sitting on camels. I doubt that I will ever see the pyramids, except in pictures. It amazes me the things my parents did even in their 70s and 80s, that I will never be able to do, mainly because of money but also infirmities. So I will enjoy the experience vicariously through pictures.
Lilbc77 --- I don't expect to see the pyramids either, but I did ride a camel in Morocco! What fun!

Lilbc77 - I have pictures of my Grandparents riding around the Pyramids too!! My grandfather worked as a Civil Engineer at an oil company in Saudi Arabia. They lived there for 10 years, so we have a lot of keepsakes from the area. I admit I have also always wanted to travel, but that's one region I really don't want to visit. Too hot and sandy! I'm also a vicarious traveler through some of my friends and family. This way I get to travel in my jammies!!
