This looks hard. I can't do it until later, tho. I have to get my singing practice done early today. We have a contractor coming to assess the mold in the attic.
See ya later.
The contractor is here still poking around and taking photos. I didn't do my practice. I'm too angry. The new 21 year old music director finally got back to me about singing a solo and took it upon herself to what I would call "put me in my place." I won't be singing for that church any time soon. I told her how offensive I considered her attitude. The parishioners are the ones to lose out. They wanted me to sing a solo at every Mass.
Of course the official line at the Catholic church is that song is not to be allowed to become a "concert." As a result the only halfway professional music you are apt to hear and that's a maybe, is from the organist who is the only one paid for the job but the music department is given orders by an untrained-in-music bunch of people on the liturgy committee and of course the priest. Sometimes I wish I was born a Protestant!

Just because you were born into a Catholic family does not mean you can never become a Protestant. Or vice-versa. Sing His praises daily, even if only for yourself!

I can see how much this has upset you Pixi and unfortunately sometimes we have to accept the things we don't like. I have found that to be true in my own life and as a result of accepting these things, have found an unexplainable peace and God opens doors which I thought were not possible Hang in there and forgive those who have hurt you. Read you Bible, there is much comfort in the Word of God. Hugs.

That's where it's at nlb. I'm writing hymns these days. It's a very slow process because I am not good on keyboard so figuring out the accompaniment takes a while. Almost finished with my second "album." Once I register it for copyright I'll try and do the hymns on youtube.
If you want to hear two silly songs I sing go to youtube video and call up Ring a Ling Ling It's a Christmas Thing; and Don't Take Away My Daylight Savings Time. Unfortunately I don't have good recording equipment so it's pretty amateurish but you might enjoy the funny artwork with it. On Christmas thing I did the art myself.

I made myself a note to check them out a little later. I am sure they are great.

Doesn't show off my voice--I was trying to sound country and I don't sing country. The lyrics should give a laugh, tho, although you may not agree with what I believe in ring a ling.

That's true to a point, Aussie. I have spent years witing for those doors to open but it has been a paucity of opportunity. You know the song Rose in Spanish Harlem where the lyrics kind of say she found a crack to get a chance to grow. That's how I view myself.

You have to type the whole title--Don't Take Away My Daylight Savings Time. try also new and curious as that is the name of the sit I have on youtube and make sure you ask for video, not music. I have found with Kindle and Youtube they have made it impossible for anyone to stumble across my work by browsing which of course means they buried it.

Thanks nlb. Glad you enjoyed them. If I can manage to someday play the accompaniments to my religous songs I'll sing them and post them. I'm almost done composing my second album. I did write one for guitar--again with a country flavor so it won't really show how I sing. Maybe I should post it, tho. 10 songs already have registered copyright protection. I had a game idea stolen from me when I was teaching music in a Catholic school because I didn't copyright(or is it patent for games? ) it.

Pixipixil, I'm just doing this puzzle for the first time are read about your songs on YouTube - they are fantastic! So fun and clever and you have a GORGEOUS voice! I'm so happy I learned about them, you are very gifted. And I so agree with you about daylight savings time -- I just hate turning the clocks back!

Thanks bopit. I had stopped singing at church when they let me go from my last job. I played guitar and sang and the priest wanted the organ only as accompaniment and wouldn't pay for "just singing." (He was young and this was his forst parrish and he wasn't the priest that hired me. That priest had died.)I was angry and hurt and didn't try to find another place to sing. Now I am singing for free at two churches. I don't play. Something went wrong with my middle finger on my left hand so I can't play a D chord. I'm finding it hard to keep going as I sing a 7:30 am Mass which means getting up at 4 to be warmed up and ready but I have to do something or I'll get too depressed now that my husband and son are both dead.
Apparently we are going to have daylight savings permanently now so you and I won't have to turn the clocks any more.

Heartbreaking losses for you, pixipixil, I'm so sorry to hear about you husband and son...I can't imagine how hard that must be.My heart goes out to you. When you are actually singing in front of people does it lift your spirits? Getting up at 4:00 is unimaginable to me, especially as I am much more likely to go to BED at that time! That new young priest sounds like he didn't know what he was doing.
I am so glad to meet you on here -- I know we'll likely never meet, but you have lifted my spirits many times. I hope I can return the favor in some small way...take care and all the best to you

Thanks, bopit. It makes me happy to think I could give you some relief. It's awful to feel depressed.
I was a night owl also but my husband was an early bird so after 50 years with him I don't know what I am any more. Most nights I am exhausted by 9 pm but sometimes only manage to sleep a few hours then wake up and can't fl back to sleep. Other nights I wake up and fall asleep without trouble.
See ya later.
