How come my son makes his cranberry sauce from "scratch" and I get mine out of a can? My gram made hers from scratch too--delish! She had to have a special glass bowl for it. It was a lot of trouble for the rest of the family to keep finding the perfect cranberry sauce bowl if something happened to the one she had! Don't understand why it happened more than once and we were out shopping again! Another sweet and important memory.
It is funny how if a son takes an interest in cooking, he is usually over the top. Or maybe it is because I am such a typical type A and he is just like me. When he cooks he not only want it to look great but be delicious. I wrote a cookbook for him of all the recipes I had collected and used since I was a teenager (always loved to cook).

My son has learned since his job keeps him out of town most of the last several years, says you get tired real quick of eating out all the time, plus somtimes the expense runs greater than alloted.

My mom always made cranberry sherbet for Christmas & Thanksgiving. I've got the recipe some place, just remember that it uses ginger ale in it. I used to fix it sometimes, but not for many years. Hubby & I both really liked it but our children liked the sauce out of the can just as well.
Love whole cranberries but buy them in a can. However have gone to the cranberry bogs in Massachusetts--Edaville I think it's called. You go on a train ride thru the bogs. I used to live not far from there.
