I'd love to see the inside. I love rooms that stick out from the general face of a building and have windows. They are always so filled with light.
My old uncle Sean was a leprechaun
Or at least so I've been told.
They kicked him out of Ireland when
he lost his pot of gold.
He bet it on the horses.
He spent it on the beer.
He tossed it all around the place to give his people cheer.
They sent him off to Scotland
To teach him to be frugal.
They tried to teach him the bagpipes
But he preferred a bugle.
He hasn't got two cents to rub together any more.
But seems it is the Irish folk
are feeling somewhat poor.
They miss his jokes and antics.
They miss his jolly laugh.
They miss the beer he bought for them--
Only the best on draft.
But all around the Scottish hills
Both near and far away
The Scotch are cheered by uncle Sean.
They love to hear him play.
So twasn't the silly pot of gold
That brought his joyful spirit.
'Twas folk who listened with their hearts
And who, by gum, could hear it.
Old Uncle Sean was saying to every one he met
"I love you all and give you all everything I get. "

Pixipixil, that is really great! Are you speaking of your own relative? I also write poetry from my heart. I think it is the very best form of expressing emotions.

Hi nlbuchanan:
No relative. I just made him up on the spot. I like to write silly poems and sometimes serious ones. You can do so much more with language in a poetic rather than prose form without losing the sense of what you want to say. Let's hear one of your poems nlb.
Talent--you are most welcome. If you ever need a funny poem just let me know.

Pixipixl, I need a poem could you do one for me, the subject is :holiday at Home: in the Nursing home we cannot take them all away for a holiday so we have two weeks a year dedicated to the purpose of fun, we are having the first in June and its on Poetry, reading and music, we don't have to write them ourselves but an original would be wonderful.

Thank you all. Barbaranne--Sure will. When do you need it by? How long would you like it and do you want to act out something--I mean how far out should I go? Tell me some things you do there. I interviewed for a job doing activities at a retirement community but that isn't a nursing home. All the manager wanted to do was give them jigsaw puzzles and bingo. You don't need an activity director for that so I walked out of the interview.
I take it you want to make it funny, right?

OK pixipixil, you wanted a sample of my poetry so here you are hot off the presses.

Puzzlin' is a wonderful gift
to all the world not given.
But in the mind of this here one
gives life more joy for livin'.

And, thanks to C4J and crew,
we have a place to share.
Picture after picture
torn apart then we repair.

And this new puzzlin' family
share freely in the fun
Which means goin' all the world around
the puzzlin' is never done!

Thank you Patricia, Colleen, Starrphyre, and Eveningstar. Some day I hope to put together a collection. I seem to get a lot of positive response when I write poems and I do so enjoy doing it.

This explains where I get my personality. My Mom was a Lackey and she married Dad, a Connolly, so I have half Irish on both sides. I can remember Dad telling me when I was little, Trish, you will never be rich because you will give it all away! That pretty much sums up my story. I can't stand to see somebody in need.
I really enjoyed your story about your Uncle Sean.

God bless your generous heart pc. My poem is only a story I made up. You are the real thing and a loss to all who miss your presence.
