I remember using school supplies like that when I was a kid. They were commonplace in the classrooms in the 20th century. Now they are becoming obsolete in the modern classrooms here in the 21st century.
Wow! Haven't seen a pencil sharpner like that in a long time, but used to have one. All I have now is one on the wall in my garage (from my principal where I taught) and occasionally I use it. Teaching days are over--thank goodness!
What a difference I day can make! You can have it all: big dreams and small joys. Hope you all have a great day!
I feel the same as you, elijah13, glad that the teaching days are over. I loved being a teacher, but not these days, especially with the COVID19. Have a wonderful day, my friend.

I have one in my sewing room, but I don't use it.

My husband was a teacher and I'm so glad he finally retired. He initially said he might retire at 62 but then decided he wouldn't retire at all. Finally at 70 he changed his mind again. One day he came home from work and announced he didn't want to continue any more. He's 75 now and loving retirement.
I tried teaching but never felt comfortable doing it.
Tried many subjects and age groups and settings.
You have to love it or you shouldn't do it.

I'm with you elijah13. I am glad my teaching and principal days are over. I loved my job, but education has changed so much the past 10 years. I have been retired for 4 years and I love it. I enjoy gardening, taking care of my hummingbirds and working in my yard.

Here in S. Spain it's impossible to find an American style office pencil sharpener. Everyone uses the ones like in this picture. They used to have a horse-shoe shaped piece of metal with a blade set in it, don't see those any more. Hubby is now 75 but he and I still love staring at office supply store windows. He apparently dreamed of having proper coloured pencils, when I was about 30 I tried to learn to draw without much success but he rejoiced in buying me a set of artist's coloured pencils!

He is. I wouldn't trade him for a million million dollars. We've been married for 37 years and still silly about each other.
I am so thankful I am done with school. My dream of working in a school with children who have special needs is out of the question for this year. I might try next year but with all of the craziness going on, I think I will stay at right where I am. Besides, I love being in the deli at the Minute Market.
What a difference I day can make! You can have it all: big dreams and small joys. Hope you all have a great day!
