Those are powerful quotes from an extraordinary man. Every day I drive past a wall that says "I'd say people are just about as happy as they make up their mind to be." Abraham Lincoln. I adore that one about enemies. Thank you so much aussiesapphire :)
I spent time on the Pacific as a sailor on an aircraft carrier. Not quite the same as being on a boat that small. I did sail on small boats on lakes Michigan and Eire though. It is a lot of fun.

Hi robert. Are you new to the site? Probably not...I just don't recall your name.

Not new just do not post often. Only when I have something to contribute.
Reminds me of a painting of the "Cutty Sark" that an aunt used to have hanging on her wall; when I was a kid it fascinated me. Oh, gosh - a century or two ago!!!!
I love that song too. For anyone who doesn't it, here are the lyrics:
I have journeyed through the long dark night
Out on the open sea, by faith alone
Sight unknown; and yet His eyes were watching me
The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees as I face the raging seas
The anchor holds in spite of the storm
I've had visions, I've had dreams
I've even held them in my hand
But I never knew they would slip right through
Like they were only grains of sand
The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees as I face the raging seas
The anchor holds in spite of the storm
I have been young but I'm older now
And there has been beauty these eyes have seen
But it was in the night, through the storms of my life
Oh, that's where God proved His love for me
The anchor holds
Though the ship's been battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees as I face the raging seas
The anchor holds in spite of the storm
I have fallen on my knees as I face the raging seas
The anchor holds in spite of the storm.

Thank you for posting the words. They are so powerful, and hopeful. It's good to read them again.

You are welcome rahrah. I love that song. We often sang in church.
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." —Abraham Lincoln
"Am I not destroying my enemies when I make friends of them? " —Abraham Lincoln
Good night and God bless. Hugs.
