Love my 3 cats. One takes a nap with me in the afternoon and one sleeps with me at night. The other one sleeps in the atrium during warm weather and on my bed at night when it is cold and the atrium is off limits to her. She is the one that nobody sees except me. Any other voices--runs and hides until they leave.
Remember; dogs have masters. Cats have servants. Nothing beats a cat sitting nearby and allowing you to pet them an hearing that gentle "motor" purr within them. Hope all are resting from the Christmas rush.
Boy do you have that right, we live with a Maine Coon and he gets his way....He looked out this morning walked out the door onto the porch, looked at the snow, turned around & came back in, with that where's my food look.

CatLady, we also have a Maine Coon! He's a BIG boy! I was thinking the cat in this picture looks like a Maine Coon, which would also explain why he seems comfortable in the snow with those adorable hairy toes!

That's what I thought, looks alot like ours but he is the darker color but has nearly the same front white markings. We found him as a very young kitten and he hopped every where, so we named him Crickett and then he started growing, growing and growing.

CatLadyOKC & Lydiagintn, we also wave a cat that I am sure is part Maine Coon. He is the size of a regular cat, but has the colours, soft fur and tufts of fur in his paws and ears that a Maine Coon has. He is adorable & gentle.

This is interesting at least 4 of us puzzlers have Main Coon's, are there more out there. KitKat (also a Maine Coon) rules at tomandray's house.

Hi CatLadyOKC and all of you other Maine Coon folks. Yes, I have had 2 Maine Coons, Mimi and KitKat. Mimi is gone a few years now, but I VERY MUCH miss her. She was my classical kitty, love her music. KitKat pass away this past March 26th. Still "feel" her around and sometimes I think I can her her meow for fresh water. She loved fresh, filtered H2O2 water. The Maine Coon's certainly are fussy, but very loyal.
I've been looking on line at the shelters for another cat, preferably a Maine Coon, so far nothing. Will keep looking for another.
I have a sign in my home, "A house is not a home without a cat". That is so true. :) All 4 of our girls, 2 were American Short hairs...a tuxedo and a tri-colored, have been a huge part of our lives. Have to fill that void. Save a life and go the the shelter to find another.
A caress and a hug to Crickett. >^-^< Hoping all is well. :)

Tomandray: Good to hear you are feeling better, not good to feel bad with the weather so hot...take care.
We have Morris & Ginger (adopted from the neighbors), he was rust & white, short hair large cat (hubbys buddy), she was small long hair ginger color(daughters favorite), Sparkie (stray) was very small and very loveable, he let all the neighbors kids haul him around (sons favorite) dogs got into the porch & killed him - very said, Mr.Daddy was part Simese (sp? ) but very much a lap cat (my best buddy) liked to help me with my computer, lived a very long happy life, & then Crickett (he likes hubby best, but tolerates the rest of us). He likes to howl as he comes up the stairs & to "his room" once was my sewing & crafts room, he sleeps on a small couch in there. He can be heard all over the house. Have to tell him to have a "good nap" until he quiets down. They all have had very different personalities. Also had 2 dogs (first one came with me) when were married - he had several hunting dogs that lived at the farm w/his parents, then we had one later with the first 2 cats, both dogs were strays we took in. "Boots" & "Tinker" did not have cats growing up but had dogs & hubby had both around since he a mainly lived on a farm growing up.

Hi CatLadyOKC, Hope you're having a good weekend. We've been busy out of the house. :)) During the summer we feel like "shut-ins". Like the people up north in the winter with all their snow storms. Well it's been nice here for the past couple of days. Yesterday we went for a ride to get ice cream at our favorite place "Hudson Beach Ice Cream Parlor". One of those old fashion ice cream shops. Had one scoop of Vanilla Beach, 1/2 scoop Bing Cherry and 1/2 scoop Georgia Peach, wonderful! Our splurge for the month. We then wound up doing some shopping. Then by the time the temps got up to 88 deg. we headed home. It was getting to be a zoo out there, lots of people out. Once it hits 90, I just don't want to be out.
That is quite a family of pets you had there. Enjoyed reading of each of your cats and dogs and their personalities. They are each quite unique. Mr. Daddy sound like he was quite a character. So sorry for your Mr. Sparkie, he sounds like he was lots of fun to have around. Well, I guess you don't sew or craft anymore since you got kicked out of your sewing room by the Crickett. :)) Now it's his room. >^-^< His howling is probably his telling you, "I'm going to bed, good night". Mimi used to do that, Howling "Good night". She'd howl "Good by" when we left the house. Must be the Maine Coon that do that.
We had all kinds of animals when my brother and I were growing up. From rabbits, turtles, canneries, parakeets, gerbil, goldfish, 2 dogs and 3 cats. My dad kept fancy show pigeons and fancy show rabbits. He won prizes at the fairs. We have always been around animals all our lives. It seems weird not to have any animals in the house. Hope you have a wonderful Sunday. :)

Didn't go out yesterday, too hot, was suppose to cool down but it didn't. Morris was a character, he would try to get off with the phesants hubby would leave in back entry, love to take guys ball caps off it they got to near the cat tree, also he & the dog next door would walk the kittens every day, the dog leading (stopped at every tree) and Morris would be at the rear to make sure none of the kittens got out of line. It was really funny to watch them. He also would let daughter dress him in her doll clothes, and would try to steal any snack that he could from son. He loved to hear him yell when he did it, and then the chase was on. Kids were in early grade school when we got him. Rode all the way down here from western KS when we moved here draped around hubbys shoulders in the pickup w/son. Daughter & I were in the car with Ginger & Tinker what a trip....

Hi CatLadyOKC, Yes it's always an adventure moving with pets. We've done those moves quite a few times throughout the decades. We have even helped others in their move with pets. Have a great day. :) Caress to Crickett. >^-^< :)

Tomandray - Crickett need lots of hugs today, he hates 4th of July things go boom in the night. Several neighbors were doing fireworks last nite (they are illegal in Moore) with the first big boom he was in the house on a dead run. The city has a all day celebration & evening display and that is bad enough for him but at least it is several miles from us, but you can hear them. He says this is going to be a very long weekend for him.

Hi CatLadyOKC, Poor Crickett needs a blanket and a good bed to sit this 4th of July boom-boom fest out. My cats didn't like the 4th. They had their stero on and their blankets. Hid under the blankets in their beds. We're not going to the beach for fireworks, too many people. It's got to be a zoo getting there. Watching fireworks on TV. Have a good evening watching the fireworks on the TV. A lot safer. :))

We had storms yesterday, so I shut down early, lots of thunder and enough rain to wet things down. Last night was a nightmare, the neighbor to east behind us (we have 3 that are along our back fence line) was shooting fireworks (illegal in Moore) that were landing on the 2nd story roof and also out patio that is covered w/shade cloth. Went out an asked them not to shoot then our way, (main portion of the backs on an open area).
We also watched the Macy's fireworks & the Capital 4th enjoyed both. Crickett made it though the thunder, but was hiding out in the closet under the stairs. It finally quit about 1am. We can also hear some of the OKC firework, as well as Moore & Norman. They were louder than usual due to the high humidty, they also said people with breathing problems should also wear a mask or stay in doors for several days due to the smoke from them and very little wind. You could hardly see the house across the street last nite. Seemed like a lot more people were doing there own this year thinking it was safe since we have had so much rain. Most of the cities around us also have bans on home fireworks, but they did mention that all those police depts. were over run with calls last nite. There were at least 6 diifferent houses in just the small area around us that were shooting them off. Glad you had a nice (safe) 4th!!!

Hi CatLadyOKC, So glad Crickett is safe and found a good spot in the closet to wait out the noise. When we lived in our Orlando home, we had huge wall to wall closets. The cats loved to hang out in the closets when they were fearful of noise or people. I would have their special carpet in there that I could wash when needed, left one of the bi-fold doors open a bit so they could easily open it and go in to relax. >^-^<
We have neighbors to our south side that are like your neighbors, noisy, loud punk music, fireworks and party till 2am. Don't care about anybody but themselves. No one in this neighborhood likes them. They were really noisy on the 3rd and 4th. They had company and a party till 2am.
We've had lots of rain and wind driving the storms inland. Being close to the shore, we get lots of storms rolling through here, but they are gone quickly, for the most part. So we did not have a problem with the local fireworks smoke, there were quite a few people that did their own around here.
We went out this afternoon. Felt like Chinese so went to our favorite HongKong Chinese rest., a nice break from the usual.
I've been tired all day, think I'll turn in early. Don't feel much like doing anything. Well, thanks for writing and have a good night. Hugs & kitty caress to the Crickett. :)) >^-^<

Sorry to hear, that this weather takes it's toll on us...Had to shut down in a hurry last evening, had big long line of storms, may have to do that again today. The only major difference in Kitten in the basket from Cricket is that he has a pink nose, but does have the black lip. He is really happy the the 4th is over, however we did have some going off around us last evening but not near as many and not too close. He is inside now taking his nap, one of many...He thanks you for all the caresses and hugs he really likes them! >^-^< ! Have a good day!

Agree - That the photo looks like a Maine Coon cat. I wanted to scream on Sat. am. Ugh!
2nd time doing it but as a mystery one. Love cats. Have 3 of my own with each one having a different personality! One is my "polite" cat, one you never know what she will do next, and one that will not come out unless I am by myself. She hears people and she runs and hides. All indoor cats.
mystery today
