Every time I see a monkey, I think of the ones we encountered on Gibraltar. One jumped on the shoulders of a woman in our group. She was so startled she was losing her balance, but a person in the group came to her rescue. It was a close call because she was near the edge of low wall and could have fallen over it.
I saw these monkeys on a documentary once. They were so cool to watch and I thought they were particularly agile. It was amazing to see them moving through the trees.
I remember years ago, seeing an organ grinder who had a squirrel monkey wearing a vest with a little cap. If you gave the monkey a coin, it would tip its cap to you. What was kind of interesting was that as I was walking past with a friend, the monkey came up to me as if it was wanting to be held. It was pretty cute.
Good picture for Mothers' Day, May 11, this year. Moms "carry their kids on their backs" and work so hard to teach them, support, guide them and protect them--usually until death do them part!
