Beautiful.....Old Glory. My Dad served in The Army & fought for what our Flag represents. Dad is now totally free as he has moved on up to "His New Home." Miss him terribly!

I was finally able to make the first Blackberry cobbler of the season from the blackberries in our back yard next to the garden. It took 4 cups. I had a very unhappy robin who thought I was stealing HER blackberries. She assumed they had been planted for her and her babies. ;-)))

Yeah sounds quite yummy! There's a national park in the US that has a berry that looks like Blueberries - Huckleberry. The Grand Teton - there's a lodge that has a coffee shop that puts them in their pancakes. They ask if you want Blueberry or Huckleberry. Huckleberries are smaller and sweeter. One day while vacationing I arrived at this coffee shop alittle later in the am. It was too late to get them - they use fresh ones. Made a Peach Cobbler with a maple cream sauce. Thinking about making toffee bars.

I am quite familiar with both blue berries and huckleberries. I have picked my share of huckleberries in my life. They only sell blue berries at the stores around here. But both are berrylicious.

There's a pie in CA in a town - a restaurant has a pie - looks like Raspberries but there called Ollieberries. Wish hubby took me to this restaurant so I could taste their pie and Artichoke soup. This restaurant is famous for these two items.

If he DOES take you, CA, I hope you don't choke on the arti's in the soup.

Yeah the artichoke's are in a puree. He took me to Castorville - the artichoke capital. We went to a farm - when we left his town the weather was nice and warm - 70 deg. Castorville is 30 min. away - it quickly became quite cool. I needed a jacket. This farm had alittle booth and I ordered fried artichoke hearts. - They do them fresh - then you sprinkle Parmesan cheese. Delicious!

Went out for lunch earlier this weeks. I looked at this restaurants menu online. They said they have crack pie. We go there and for dessert I try and order it. Then I'm told oh no you have to call us and give us 48 hours to make it. I could make it myself and have made it. The name of the pie sounds funny!

Yes, I wish all a happy Fourth. Just one question...why is it soooooo hard to walk into a store & buy a flag?!

The last flag I bought I got at Walmart. Hope that helps.
I remember taking a small group of middle school students to a wonderful flag store in Quincy, MA to buy many small flags representing the countries of our collective heritage. I think there must have been about 30 and they were to encircle a hall bulletin board for our heritage project. What fun we had! I had gone earlier and told the proprietor what I hoped to do and was it alright with him? He was hesitant ---- and I assured them they would be on their best behavior. And they were! As soon as the man met them (about 8 of them) he relaxed and we all had a good time selecting the flags. Now that I think of it 35 years later, I should have invited him to visit the school and see the bulletin board. Hind sight is great!

What a great idea that was Jamp...both for the kids learning about other kids and learning about how our neighbors got to America, the old traditions, and how we are all equal, but have fun telling each other traditions from our ancesters.
