European trains - at least the few I have ridden, were much better than the Amtrak trains I've ridden in Missouri. Smoother rides - especially the French TGV. You couldn't tell you were riding a train at over 180 miles her hour (about 300 kph).

I've ridden the European trains as well. On on train ride I had to stand in the aisle it was so packed. I wanted the ride to stop asap and get off the train! I had to stick my head out the window.

That would have been really packed - it sounds almost like a train in India or parts of Africa where they're often so packed that people are riding on top of the train - although I think many of those people might not have tickets.
